This vision aims to place envi- ronmental, social, and economic sustainability at the core of poli- cy, while reflecting both scientif- ic evidence and the voice of the public. Bajada emphasised that econ- omy should serve as a tool to sustain life, not the other way around. He announced the start of a study that will gather both scientific data and public opin- ions to develop practical policies tailored to the needs of commu- nities. He also highlighted the im- portance of dialogue with fami- lies, organizations, and youth to build a future where everyone's well-being is a priority. In his speech, Bajada stressed the need to bridge the gap be- tween economic models which focus on rapid, short-term growth and those with a long- term perspective that prioritize human and environmental val- ues. He stated that this project should serve as the foundation for new policies to guide Malta and Europe toward an economy that builds stronger people, com- munities, and environments. Economist Lawrence Zammit, tasked with quantitative analy- sis, and Sociologist Justin Attard, responsible for qualitative re- search, will lead the study. During the launch, the Gozo Business Chamber represent- atives presented several rec- comendations together with the Chamber of Commerce, Rich- mond Foundation, ERA, and BirdLife. Bajada concluded with a call for broad collaboration, inviting anyone who shares this vision to be part of the necessary change. "This is the way of doing politics, that must start from facts and the needs of the public and not from polarization or short-term thinking," he said.
