SCHOOLCHILDREN from the Gozo Col-
lege are set to embark on an enchanting
musical journey as Saint-Saëns' delightful
suite, The Carnival of the Animals, arrives
in Gozo for the first in its original orches-
tration.
This splendid experience will take place at
the Oratory Don Bosco Theatre, promising
an immersive celebration of music and na-
ture for the young audience.
Composed by French composer Camille
Saint-Saëns, Le Carnaval des Animaux is
a humorous suite of 14 movements for
chamber ensemble and two pianos.
The production will feature a captivating
combination of whimsical melodies and
dynamic rhythms, brought to life under the
musical direction of Pierre Louis Attard,
leader Marcelline Agius, and pianists Ma-
ria-Elena Farrugia and Milica Lawrence.
The artistic direction of George Mizzi el-
evates the production further, with narra-
tors and actors George Camilleri and Maria
Mercieca lending their storytelling prowess
to the event by reading Ogden Nash's vers-
es for Camille Saint-Saëns' Carnival of the
Animals.
Accompanied by background audio-visual
projections, the performance will transport
audiences into the magical world of ani-
mals, engaging the imagination of the chil-
dren present.
Two performances are scheduled for Fri-
day, 6th December, at 9:30 AM and 12:00
PM at the Oratory Don Bosco Theatre. The
project is proudly presented by the Cultural
Council within the Ministry for Gozo and
Planning.
