11 gozotoday | FRIDAY • 6 DECEMBER 2024 CULTURE SCHOOLCHILDREN from the Gozo Col- lege are set to embark on an enchanting musical journey as Saint-Saëns' delightful suite, The Carnival of the Animals, arrives in Gozo for the first in its original orches- tration. This splendid experience will take place at the Oratory Don Bosco Theatre, promising an immersive celebration of music and na- ture for the young audience. Composed by French composer Camille Saint-Saëns, Le Carnaval des Animaux is a humorous suite of 14 movements for chamber ensemble and two pianos. The production will feature a captivating combination of whimsical melodies and dynamic rhythms, brought to life under the musical direction of Pierre Louis Attard, leader Marcelline Agius, and pianists Ma- ria-Elena Farrugia and Milica Lawrence. The artistic direction of George Mizzi el- evates the production further, with narra- tors and actors George Camilleri and Maria Mercieca lending their storytelling prowess to the event by reading Ogden Nash's vers- es for Camille Saint-Saëns' Carnival of the Animals. Accompanied by background audio-visual projections, the performance will transport audiences into the magical world of ani- mals, engaging the imagination of the chil- dren present. Two performances are scheduled for Fri- day, 6th December, at 9:30 AM and 12:00 PM at the Oratory Don Bosco Theatre.
