9 gozotoday | FRIDAY • 13 DECEMBER 2024 CULTURE Red Riding Hood: The Rock n' Roll Panto at Teatru Astra, Gozo FOLLOWING the resounding suc- cess of the two previous Rock n' Roll Pantos at Teatru Astra in Gozo, FM Theatre Productions returns this Christmas for another thrilling, fam- ily-friendly extravaganza with Red Riding Hood: The Rock n' Roll Pan- to. This year's production boasts a remarkable cast of actor-musi- cians, blending the humor and en- ergy of a Christmas panto with the electrifying vibe of a rock concert. This production sees the intro- duction of a new dame on the scene, Sean Borg as Dame Sally Forn, alongside Rebecca Darmanin as Red Riding Hood. The stellar lineup also includes Gianni Selvaggi, Tina Rizzo, Fed- erica Giallombardo, Cathy Lawlor, Peter Farrugia, Dan Ganado, and Hannah Attard. The classic story of Red Riding Hood gets a fun, Rock n' Roll twist as our heroine fights to save her family's bakery after her rent is doubled by the dastardly villain, Sir Jasper DeVille. With the help of her feisty Grand- mother, Dame Sally Forn, and an incognito Prince disguised as a woodcutter, Red Riding Hood must overcome obstacles, outwit a fearsome wolf, and keep her village safe. But will it all come together in time for a happily ever after? Bursting with contemporary jokes, Maltese references, and all the traditional elements that au- diences know and love, the witty script by Peter Rowe guarantees laugh-out-loud moments for adults and children alike. Directed by panto legend Chris Gatt, this high-energy production is filled with unexpected twists and outrageous fun. The actor-musicians, under the Musical Direction of Cathy Law- lor, will be performing some of the most iconic tunes from the likes of music legends such as AC/DC, Adele, Ed Sheeran, Pat Benetar and Elton John just to name a few.
