The arrests were carried out follow- ing inspections carried out by police officers and the agency for detention services. The inspections were carried out in a number of locations including Ra- bat, Marsalforn, Fontana and Xlendi. The arrested individuals are of Ghanian, Ethiopian, Syrian and Ni- gerian nationality. The persons were transferred to the detention centre until the process for their return is completed, the police said. Police arrest 20 people found to be residing irregularly in Gozo THE Ministry for Gozo and Planning is once again host- ing the much-anticipated Gozo Arts Weekend, which will take place from January 24 to 26, 2025, across various locations on the island. This year's edi- tion will spotlight the remark- able work of renowned Gozitan artist and sculptor Michael Camilleri Cauchi. "During the Gozo Arts Week- end, both local and internation- al audiences will enjoy a diverse program centred around the works of Camilleri Cauchi, an artist who needs no introduc- tion. This edition allows us to connect with his talent, where his sculptures captivate the eye and deliver profound messag- es," Minister for Gozo and Plan- ning Clint Camilleri said in his announcement. The Gozo Arts Weekend is part of the Ministry's ongoing effort to solidify Gozo's repu- tation as a cultural and tourist destination. The 2025 program promises a range of activities and exhibitions, offering visi- tors a unique opportunity to ex- plore and appreciate the artist- ry of Michael Camilleri Cauchi while engaging with the artist himself. "We invite everyone to join us in celebrating Gozitan talent and the universal language of art," Camilleri said. Visitors can look forward to a weekend brimming with crea- tivity, featuring exhibitions and interactive events that showcase the exceptional legacy of Camill- eri Cauchi. His contributions to the Maltese cultural landscape, particularly his sculptural mas- terpieces, continue to resonate both locally and international- ly, making this event a cultural highlight of the new year.
