maltatoday | SUNDAY • 26 JANUARY 2025 2 ART A powerful exhibition by Christina Darmanin at Gemelli Art Gallery this January Love X Light, Christina Darmanin's solo exhibition, is currently on display at Gemelli Art Gallery, Ta' Qali Crafts Village, Attard, Malta, till end of January CHRISTINA Darmanin's lat- est solo exhibition, Love X Light, is a powerful ref lection on the enduring presence of light in our lives, no matter the challenges we face. The theme of the exhibition is inspired by the message, "There is always light." It speaks of restoration, elevation, and the healing pow- er of light – both the natural light of the sun and the divine light of God's love and word. After a challenging year, Christina felt compelled to share her personal journey of healing and hope. She em- braced the light of the sun and the comfort of God's word, which have been sources of strength, elevation, and inspi- ration through difficult mo- ments. This exhibition marks her gratitude for the light that has guided her through hard- ship, and her desire to share that light with others. Through vibrant, expressive works, Christina invites view- ers to reflect on the transform- ative power of light in their own lives. Her art suggests that while we may face trials and dark moments, the light—both spiritual and physical—offers the possibility of healing, resto- ration, and renewal. As Chris- tina puts it, "To overcome and be a light, one must endure burning, as though consuming the sun itself. While impossible in the physical sense, this is at- tainable spiritually." The exhibition also reflects the essence of hope found in scriptures like Ephesians 3:20, which reminds us that God is able to do "immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine." Similarly, Martin Luther King Jr.'s words resonate deeply within this collection: "Dark- ness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that." Christina extends her heart- felt thanks to her family, graphic designer Dynia, Juan at Focal, Clear Printing, and Pal- myra for their support. Special thanks also to Gemelli Fram- ing, whose craftsmanship and generosity have helped bring her vision to life, and to NU Caffé for their collaboration. Love X Light is not just an exhibition, but an invitation to embrace light in all its forms, a call to find joy, healing, and strength in the warmth of the sun and the love that sur- rounds us. Love X Light, Christina Dar- manin's solo exhibition, is currently on display at Gemel- li Art Gallery, Ta' Qali Crafts Village, Attard, Malta, till end of January. Open week- days 08:00–14:30, Saturdays 09:00–12:00.
