maltatoday | SUNDAY • 2 FEBRUARY 2025 6 COMMERCIAL New management information system launched for OHSA THE Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA) has launched the novel Manage- ment Information System (MIS). This novel content management system is specifically designed to streamline and enhance the operational efficiency across all the OHSA's units. The Management Information System is currently in use by OHSA employees, marking a sig- nificant milestone in the Authori- ty's digital transformation efforts. This novel system facilitates the management of information be- ing collected by Occupational Health and Safety Officers dur- ing their daily interaction with OHSA's duty holders and clients, particularly during their enforce- ment duties. This take will sim- plify data sharing between the OHSA's internal sections, im- prove quality and security, and facilitate the statistical capture and reporting capabilities of the Authority. Minister for Justice Hon. Dr. Jonathan Attard said, "The work being undertaken in the health and safety sector is not limited to changes in legislation and un- precedented investment in hu- man resources, but also includes investment in digital infrastruc- ture. This new system is an effective tool for our inspectors, which will not only lead to greater ef- ficiency but also to more effec- tive enforcement and enhanced cooperation with other entities in the sector. This is yet another initiative that aligns with both the Government's work programme for the sector and the implemen- tation of the recommendations from the Jean Paul Sofia public inquiry." Hosted on the cloud platform operated by MITA, the Manage- ment Information System is de- signed with robust protections securing the transfer of data be- tween users and to the servers. The new system can be accessed via laptops tablets and mobile devices and boasts a comprehen- sive audit trail of all user actions. Moreover, the system allows users to upload photos and seg- ments all information according to particular areas to suit the Au- thority's work operations. Speaking about the new Man- agement Information System, CEO at the Occupational Health and Safety Authority Dr Josianne Cutajar said, "This new web- based management information system will comprehensively ad- dress existing deficiencies by im- plementing several strategic initi- atives at the Occupational Health and Safety Authority. These include automating back-office enforcement processes, provid- ing real-time monitoring tools for management, enhancing data security, transitioning to a paper- less environment, and refining enforcement models for more targeted actions." Thanks to the digital efficiency of the system OHSA employees will be saving time on administra- tive tasks and can therefore, focus more on inspections. Furthermore, the system will improve the Authority's opera- tional efficiency by providing a solid basis to create and log data, and the provision of enforcement effectiveness within the Authori- ty's framework. The successful launch of the MIS system represents a signifi- cant enhancement to the Occu- pational Health and Safety Au- thority's operational capabilities. With fully equipped OHS Of- ficers in the various units cov- ering construction, engineer- ing, chemicals and biohazards, accidents and all work sectors in general will be utilising inter- net-enabled tablets, the system is positioned to deliver efficient, real-time reporting and manage- ment of tasks. Ongoing monitor- ing of the system will ensure that it will continuously be updated to serve the evolving demands of the OHSA. BOV Colour My Run proceeds donated to Richmond Foundation BANK of Valletta recently part- nered with Colour My Run Mal- ta, sponsoring the annual 5K Fun Run as part of the Bank's well-be- ing challenge promoting physical, mental and financial well-being. This was a first for the Bank, an initiative that saw part of the pro- ceeds from each applicant going towards Richmond Foundation, coupled with a generous donation made by Bank of Valletta and oth- er co-sponsors of the Fun Run. Bank of Valletta CEO Kenneth Farrugia presented the donation to Ms Daniela Calleja Bitar, CEO of Richmond Foundation over the Christmas period. The pres- entation was held in the presence of Mr Nathan Farrugia from Col- our My Run Malta and Mr Daniel Magrin, Head of Marketing and Product Lifecycle Management at Bank of Valletta. BOV's nationwide campaign in- centivises the public to start plan- ning for a sound financial future through a holistic approach in- volving the physical, mental and fi- nancial aspects of well-being. This initiative brought together local key players in the fields of physi- cal, mental and financial wellness and promoted the importance of investing time in both physical ac- tivity and a healthy mindset. Speaking during the presenta- tion, the Bank's CEO commend- ed the invaluable efforts of the Richmond Foundation in foster- ing a healthy mindset within the community. "Our collaboration with Colour My Run Malta is an important aspect of our efforts in highlighting the importance of adopting a healthy, physical lifestyle. Being active and engag- ing in fun activities helps us steer away from the pitfalls of stress and routine. However, well-being also extends to our finances, and today more than ever, planning for our retirement at an early stage will have immense benefits in the fu- ture. As Malta's largest Bank, with so many ties to local communities, we have a duty to instil awareness on financial well-being, and our partnership with Colour My Run was a great opportunity to raise awareness on financial stability in a fun and active manner." UN Limited founder (the Colour My Run organisers), Nathan Far- rugia said that UN Limited is a fer- vent believer that exercise should be fun if we want to encourage non-athletes to stay active and lead healthy lifestyles. "This is why we are so thankful to BOV for their support in growing this event and getting more people out to run, walk or dance the Colour My Run route from Fort Manoel. We are thankful to MIDI for allowing us to use their amazing venue and to all the other sponsors who aligned with our values and beliefs on this project. We chose Richmond Foundation because we believe that physical and mental fitness MUST tie in together. They can- not be separated, and education around the importance of this fact is central to the mission of our cho- sen beneficiary." Richmond Foundation's CEO, Daniela Calleja Bitar comment- ed: "Richmond is proud to part- ner with UN limited to celebrate the powerful connection between exercise and mental well-being. A special thank you to BOV for bringing Colour My Run 2024 to life, reminding us all that move- ment, colour, and community can brighten both body and mind."
