Breathing new life into San Anton's historic gardens
PROJECT Green, the government agency oversee-
ing a wide range of environmental initiatives across
Malta and Gozo, has announced it has received no
fewer than 14 tenders for the regeneration of the
historic San Anton Gardens in Ħ'Attard.
Joseph Cuschieri, Chief Executive of the agen-
cy, said that now that the call for tenders has
closed, a further process will begin immediate-
ly. "The tenders will be evaluated by a team of
experts to select the most advantageous. We
will ensure that this process is expedited so that
work can begin quickly on this historic site of
national importance."
"We will also ensure that the best tender meets
all the agency's requirements so that the work
is carried out to the highest standards, return-
ing to the public a beautiful garden worthy of
this nationally significant place," Mr Cuschieri,
Chief Executive of Project Green, added.
In recent months, the Agency has issued 17
calls for tenders to implement numerous envi-
ronmental projects across the country, with a
total value of more than €24 million. The agen-
cy is expected to publish five new calls for ten-
ders by the end of February, which will include
Marsaxlokk, Bormla (ex-AUM), Floriana (Pine-
tum), Ħamrun and Ħal Farruġ.
Currently, nine other tenders are being evalu-
ated and work on the respective sites is expect-
ed to begin in the coming weeks. These include
projects in Ħal Luqa, Ħal Għaxaq, Ħal Lija and
Mellieħa. In addition, there are six other pro-
jects in the public call process, in addition to
those already inaugurated in the first month of
the year.
