Running from Febru- ary 28 to March 4, the festival showcased an impressive array of performances, costumes, and floats, cementing its rep- utation as a premier cultural event. This year's edition saw a noticeable in- crease in the quality of work presented, particularly in the craftsmanship of papi- er-mâché floats, choreography, and cos- tume design. Participants, who dedicate an entire year to preparing for the event, played a crucial role in keeping the spirit of Maltese Carnival alive and vibrant. Minister for National Heritage, the Arts, and Local Government, Owen Bonnici, expressed his gratitude to the artists, volunteers, and all those who contributed to making the 2025 Carnival a resounding success. He highlighted the government's commitment to expand- ing and improving the festival, noting that this year's celebrations extended to multiple localities, with 42 local councils benefiting from a special fund provided by the Local Government Division. Bon- nici reaffirmed that the government will continue to invest in Carnival by provid- ing increased support and better facili- ties for those involved in this cherished tradition. Festivals Malta Chairperson Aaron Zahra commented on the overwhelming turnout, stating, "thousands of people filled the streets of Valletta and other participating localities. Looking ahead, I am optimistic about the future, especial- ly with the upcoming launch of the Arts and Culture Centre in Marsa, which will provide a dedicated space for Carnival artists. I extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to this year's celebrations." Frans Agius, CEO of Festivals Malta, also acknowledged the dedication of all those involved in the event's success and thanked attendees for their enthusiastic participation.
