maltatoday | SUNDAY • 23 MARCH 2025 3 ART The other side of the wall: From October 7 to the war in Gaza A powerful photography exhibition offering a rare, human perspective on life on both sides of the Israeli- Palestinian divide OSSERVATORIO Mashrek and Palma Studios are proud to present The Other Side of the Wall: From October 7 to the War in Gaza, a photogra- phy exhibition by journalist Nino Orto, running from April 4 to April 6, 2025. This event provides an unfiltered, hu- man perspective on the lives of those caught between his- tory and conf lict on both sides of the wall dividing Israel and Palestine. Through a year-long, on-the- ground documentation of es- calating tensions and pivotal events, Orto captures the real- ities faced by ordinary people trapped in a cycle of violence and uncertainty.Through stark imagery and war footage, The Other Side of the Wall invites viewers to look beyond politi- cal narratives and recognise the shared humanity of those en- during unimaginable hardship. "For a year, I moved between both sides of the wall, witness- ing the daily struggles and emo- tions of those who live under the constant shadow of war," says Nino Orto. "This conflict has evolved beyond territori- al disputes or moral justice— it has become an existential struggle for both peoples." By breaking through physi- cal and psychological barriers, The Other Side of the Wall challenges audiences to see beyond political divisions and recognise a shared human ex- perience. This thought-pro- voking exhibition aims to fos- ter deeper reflection on one of the world's most complex and enduring conflicts.
