maltatoday | SUNDAY • 6 APRIL 2025 2 THEATRE Next wickedly funny show from MADC puts the 'who'll do it?' in 'whodunnit?' THRILLER fans, get ready: the next production from MADC promises a murderously enter- taining classic play with some gasp-out-loud moments. Deathtrap by Ira Levin – the mastermind behind Rosemary's Baby and The Stepford Wives – is Broadway's longest-running thriller, captivating audiences with its rollercoaster of tension, dark comedy, suspense and ra- zor-sharp dialogue. As well as being nominated for four To- ny Awards including Best Play, Deathtrap has also been adapt- ed into a film starring Michael Caine and Christopher Reeve. Now a new production of this celebrated comedy-thriller is set to take to the stage at the MADC Playhouse this May, di- rected by Joe Depasquale and featuring a brilliant cast includ- ing Richard Godden, Adrian Farrugia, Angelica Sant, Giselle Borg Olivier and Eoin Kenne- dy. What's more – an early bird deal on tickets offers an incred- ible 20% off, for a limited time only! Deathtrap follows the sto- ry of Sidney Bruhl (Godden), a once-successful playwright now desperate to regain his former glory with a hit show. When a young writer, Clifford Anderson (Farrugia), arrives with a manuscript that has all the makings of a guaranteed hit, Sidney hatches a plan – one that will lock them both in a deadly battle of wits and a chilling game of deception, be- trayal and murder. "Deathtrap remains a mas- terpiece of murderously funny theatre and the perfect choice for audiences who love sus- pense, clever writing and gasp- out-loud twists," says Joe De- pasquale. "This is a play that keeps you on the edge of your seat and guessing until the very end – just when you think you have it figured out, it takes an- other turn. With the help of our talented cast, we can't wait to bring this classic to life." MADC's production of Ira Levin's Deathtrap performs at the MADC Playhouse, Santa Venera, on 2, 3, 4 and 9, 10, 11 May, with all performanc- es at 7.30pm. This production is suitable for audiences aged 14 and over. Booking is open at www.madc.com.mt, with an early bird offer available for a limited time only.
