IN the final public talk of the Satur-
day morning series before Easter, on
12 April at 11:00am, David Grech
discusses family trees and surnames
in Gozo in his lecture Tracing our
Roots.
Following the passing of his
grandmother, David decided to
embark on a small project to trace
his family roots.
Little did he know that this en-
deavour would lead him into the
fascinating world of uncovering the
historical and cultural significance
that shaped Gozo and beyond.
What began as a simple family tree
evolved into an in-depth study of
Gozitan surnames, the lives of the
Gozitan people, and their traditions.
This lecture will explore how in-
terconnected we all are, highlight-
ing the shared heritage that binds
our community in ways we often
overlook.
Admission is free, but seat reser-
vations are recommended by send-
ing an email to events@heartof-
gozo.org.mt.
Norbert Attard Philately @ Il-Hagar
The Gozo Philatelic Society has
changed the exhibit in its showcase
on level -1 at Il-Ħaġar museum,
since the cultural centre is now
holding an important retrospective
of Norbert Attard.
This artist has designed various
Malta sets, beginning in 1982 with
a look at shipbuilding.
Some months later a series of sets
began appearing giving the histor-
ical development of ships in our
country.
With MaltaPost's support, the an-
notated original designer's draft is
proudly displayed as the highlight
of this exhibit.
His other productions are also
here, including a 1991 UHM anni-
versary stamp with a printing de-
fect. Mint stamps, first day covers
and even a coin cover make this a
really interesting showcase.
This cultural centre on Victoria's
Pjazza San Ġorġ opens from 9am
to 5pm seven days a week – with-
out any entrance fee.
