maltatoday | SUNDAY • 25 MAY 2025 7 COMMERCIAL Two BOV Visa cardholders make their way to Barcelona TWO BOV Visa Cardholders together with their respective guests were presented with an all-inclusive VIP package to a thrilling motor racing expe- rience in Barcelona. The win- ners were drawn at the end of the BOV VISA Spend and Win campaign, which ran between the months of March and May, and were presented with their prizes during an event held at Campus Hub. Micaela Catania and Moni- ca Abela are the winners of a 4-night package for two, which includes return flights to Barce- lona, 5-star hotel accommoda- tion, and the once-in-a-lifetime premium hospitality experience. The presentation was attend- ed by BOV Chief Personal & Wealth Officer, Simon Azzo- pardi, Chris Degabriele, Head of BOV eBanking Channels and Daniel Magrin, Head of BOV Marketing & Product Lifecycle Management. The campaign is part of an ongoing drive from Bank of Valletta to incentivise cashless migration amongst its custom- ers. Earlier this year, another similar campaign to encourage card payments was held during the Carnival weekend, while another initiative is currently underway till the end of June, re- warding 60 customers monthly for withdrawing less than €300 cash in any given month and by making at least one retail trans- action using a BOV Debit or Credit Card. Whilst congratulating the win- ners, Simon Azzopardi thanked Visa for partnering with the Bank to offer another great op- portunity to customers. "Thanks to our ongoing collaboration with Visa we continue to facil- itate fast and secure payments through innovative card and digital wallet solutions. Our cus- tomers today can use these solu- tions to help them make pay- ments in the most efficient way possible. This initiative allows us to reward BOV Card users with a unique and thrilling experience, unmatched in the local market. This opportunity to attend one of the most prestigious sporting events in the motorsport inter- national arena is a clear demon- stration of BOV's commitment to the proliferation of digital payments on both local and in- ternational level." Mr Azzopar- di concluded by encouraging card users to continue to make use of BOV's extensive range of payment services and promised more rewarding experiences for BOV clients UM Rocketry unveiling event THE University of Malta's Rock- etry Team officially unveiled their student-designed rocket during an event held at the Es- plora Planetarium Hall, mark- ing a major milestone in Malta's journey into aerospace innova- tion. This rocket will represent Malta's first-ever entry into the prestigious European Rocketry Challenge (EuRoC), which brings together university teams from across Europe to demonstrate technical excellence in rocketry. The event welcomed students, academics, and public sector stakeholders, highlighting the University's growing commit- ment to applied engineering and space-related innvation. "This project showcases the exception- al talent and ambition of our stu- dents and reflects the University of Malta's dedica- tion to supporting hands-on, re- search-based learning," said Dr Michael Quinton, representa- tive of Xjenza Malta, during the opening remarks. The UM Rocketry Team, com- posed of around 50 students from various faculties, has spent the past several months design- ing, building, and testing a fully functional rocket. In the coming weeks, the rocket will undergo a dry burn of its propulsion system as well as a live test launch aim- ing for an altitude of 1 kilometre. These milestones are essential in preparing for EuRoC 2025 in Portugal, where the team will compete to reach a 3-kilometre altitude. The team is divided into three key areas of focus. The Rocket Design division is responsible for the structural and aerodynamic aspects of the rocket, ensuring stability and resilience during flight. The Propulsion Design division develops the engine and propulsion system with an em- phasis on safety, efficiency, and high performance. Meanwhile, the IT and Telemetry division handles software development, real-time data collection, and live monitoring throughout testing and flight. "What started as an ambitious idea among students has grown into a fully-fledged engineering project with national signifi- cance," said Mr Francesco Cini, Founder and President of UM Rocketry. The evening concluded with a net- working session and up-close viewing of the rocket, offering at- tendees the opportunity to learn more about the technical chal- lenges and achievements of the project.
