maltatoday | SUNDAY • 15 JUNE 2025 7 COMMERCIAL Kinnie unveils global brand positioning and vision to make everyday original KINNIE, Malta's own iconic soft drink, has launched a bold and vibrant new brand positioning that celebrates individuality, creativity and imagination, and inspires consumers to drink different, explore and embrace new experiences. The fresh new Kinnie brandmark is the essence of the brand: bold, iconic, and deeply connected to its heritage while em- bracing a fresh, contemporary energy. At its core, a dynamic series of vibrant, inter- connected orange rings radiate outward, symbolising movement, energy, and vitality. These rings create a sense of perpetual motion, embodying a forward-thinking spirit. A fine geometric dot print subtly overlays the design, representative of both orange peel texture and the brand's signature effervescence. Adding depth and warmth, the Kinnie shadow represents sunlight, refreshing shade, and the vibrant outdoor lifestyle the brand em- bodies. Ms Susan Weenink Camilleri, Head of Sales & Marketing, commenting on this notable development, said: "Kinnie's new brand identity is built on the power of sim- plicity: bold, single-minded, and confident. The new brandmark is the most iconic version of our Kinnie logo to date, taking us forward with confidence and impact as our brand expands into new regions." This launch is the culmination of a thor- ough process of market research, strate- gy and creative thinking, in collaboration with renowned UK-based agency, Blue- marlin. "We have big ambitions to conquer new markets and excite new potential consum- ers worldwide. And to do that, we have to be bold, confident and consistent in our brand communications. Through this new positioning we aim to engage new audiences and present Kinnie as an iconic global soft drink with a unique taste and a culturally in- spiring lifestyle," continued Mr Michael Farrugia, Deputy Chief Executive (Beverage Business). The brainchild of Farsons' former chairman, Anthony 'Sur-Nini' Miceli Farrugia, Kinnie is a drink that was born to be different. Launched in 1952 as an alternative to the cola invasion of Malta at the time, it was an instant hit with the locals and has since become a sparkling staple of everyday life, loved by every- one across generations. Ever since its launch, Kinnie has always championed creativity and innovation, staying at the forefront of fash- ion, style and consumer demand through the launch of various variants throughout the years includ- ing Kinnie Zest and now Kinnie Zero. Most recently, Kinnie has boldly embraced the new trends through the launch of the Kinnie Aperitivo range with 4% alcohol content. Kinnie is produced, sold, distrib- uted and marketed by Simonds Farsons Cisk plc. The portfolio cur- rently includes the original Kinnie, Kinnie Zero and Kinnie Zest availa- ble in recyclable cans and PET bot- tles containing recycled PET with Kinnie and Kinnie Zero also avail- able in returnable glass bottles and on tap. The Kinnie Aperitivo range includes Kinnie Spritz and the newly launched Kinnie Rumba available in glass bottles. Visit www.kinnie.com. BOV supports restoration of Żabbar historical treasures THREE priceless religious paintings – known as sottoquadri – from the Sanc- tuary of Our Lady of Graces Church in Żabbar have been beautifully restored with the support of Bank of Valletta. The paintings, two of which are by the renowned 20th-century Italian artist Giovanni Battista Conti, were officially inaugurated during a ceremony held on Saturday 31st May 2025. The restoration is part of an ongoing commitment by the Bank to preserve Mal- ta's rich cultural and religious heritage. "At Bank of Valletta, we believe in giving back to our communities and safeguard- ing the artistic and cultural treasures that define us as a nation," said Ernest Agius, the Bank's Chief Operations Officer. "The paintings – The Sacred Heart of Jesus, Saint Paul, and Sacro Cuore – have deep spiritual and historical significance for the people of Żabbar, and we are proud to be part of this important project, restoring works of art that continue to inspire gen- erations of both faithful and visitors." The Sacred Heart of Jesus, located at the Altar of Our Lady of the Rosary, was painted in 1949 by Conti. This vibrant work symbolises divine love, with Jesus shown with open arms and the Grand Harbour in the background – a touching nod to the community's roots. Saint Paul, found directly beneath the titular painting of Our Lady of Graces, reflects Żabbar's historical devotion to the saint. Though the artist remains un- known, the sottoquadro is believed to date back to the early 20th century and holds a place of honour within the Sanc- tuary. Sacro Cuore, another 1949 masterpiece by Conti, features the Virgin Mary with the child Jesus, both crowned and sur- rounded by celestial clouds – a tender de- piction of divine royalty. These intricate oil-on-canvas paintings were meticulously restored by the dedi- cated team of conservators at ASC Con- servation Centre Ltd, under the direction of lead conservator and founder Amy Sciberras, a dedicated professional with a deep appreciation for sacred art. "This restoration was not just about reviving old paint – it was also about preserving stories, faith, and identity," said Sciber- ras. "Conti's works, in particular, are in- credibly moving. His brushwork breathes life into each figure, capturing a timeless spiritual essence." Fr Roderick Camilleri, Parish Priest at the Sanctuary said, "We are truly grate- ful to Bank of Valletta for their continued support and to all who made this resto- ration possible. These paintings are true symbols of devotion and reminders of the deep roots of faith in our community." This initiative also carries added signif- icance as the community marks the 50th anniversary of the tragic 1975 RAF Vul- can bomber crash – a poignant reminder of the strength and resilience of Żabbar and its people. FPEI's training programme for entrepreneurs with a disability celebrates successful first cohort AN accredited entrepreneurship course to train and empower people with disabilities has successfully completed its first cohort, setting a new standard in inclusive and ac- cessible business training in Malta. The Entrepreneurship Training Pro- gramme for People with Disabilities, or- ganised by the Foundation for the Promo- tion of Entrepreneurial Initiatives (FPEI), offered practical guidance for people with disabilities considering self-employment or who want to start their own business. Sponsored by Malta Enterprise and deliv- ered through The Edward de Bono Insti- tute for Creative Thinking and Innovation at the University of Malta, in collaboration with Technological University Dublin, the course officially launched at the Malta En- terprise Startup Festival in late 2024. The selected participants, all aspiring entrepre- neurs who identify as having a disability, attended weekly online training sessions for 12 weeks between February and May 2025. Each session explored the building blocks of business – from idea generation and eval- uation to value proposition, customer seg- mentation, marketing strategy and financial projections – while addressing the specific challenges often faced by disabled entrepre- neurs. Accessibility was at the heart of the initiative, with the course's lectures record- ed and available to view on-demand, along- side a wealth of online resources such as the startup planning software, SimVenture Validate. Each participant also had the op- portunity to work with a business mentor throughout the course, giving them a sup- portive foundation to develop, refine and test their ideas. In recognition of the course's Universal Design for Learning principles – a custom- ised approach that allows each individual to maximise their learning potential – all those who successfully complete the course are awarded five ECTS credits at MQF Lev- el 5, accredited by the University of Malta.
