A Midsummer Dream - An Mdina Resounds Concert Date: 25 June Location: St. Paul's Cathedral, 2 Triq San Pawl, L-Imdina This June, Mdina's St Paul's Cathedral hosts A Midsummer Dream, a magical evening where classical music meets poetry. Featuring works by Mozart, Debussy, Vivaldi, and more, performed by the Cordia String Quartet with soprano Miriam Cauchi. Actor Mikhail Basmadjian brings poetry by Shakespeare, Blake, and Briffa to life. 3. Devising & Dramaturgy Masterclass Date: 28 June Location: St Martin's College,Triq Is- Swatar, L-Imsida, Malta This workshop dives into how to create theatre from scratch and how to use dramaturgy to support the process. Small theatrical moments Date: 28 June Location: 97Notes, Strait Street, La Valeta, Malta The Malta Society of Arts (MSA) presents We Are Both Obsolete, a new media exhibition by experimental media collective DOC Studio, opening on 29 May 2025 at Palazzo de La Salle in Valletta. Through eight multidisciplinary works spanning interactive installation, generative video, sound, and sculptural assemblage, the exhibition explores the parallel obsolescence of machines and people in the digital age. From algorithmic burnout to e-waste aesthetics, We Are Both Obsolete examines what it means to live in systems designed to fail. 5. Requiem for the Living Date: 5 July Location: Ta' Ghammar Hill,, Ghasri, Gozo Dan Forrest's Requiem for the Living will be performed by Schola Cantorum Jubilate and its special guests - KorMalta, the national choir and the Orchestra Sacro Monte from Varese, Italy. The concert, part of SCJ celebrations for the 25th anniversary, will be held in a magnificent venue - within the Amphitheatre atop of T'Ghammar Hill in Gharb and will be uner the direction of Marouska Attard. 6. Turkish Gecko GECKOES often inspire fear, maybe because they often come out at night or because they crawl around walls inside our homes, or maybe because we still believe silly old granny tales that geckoes make our skin go scabby and flake off. Utter drivel, of course. We have two species of these innocuous reptiles in Malta, and prob- ably the more familiar one is the Turkish gecko (M. wiżgħa tad- djar). It's that nice, pinky-brown-skinned creature that snoozes by day behind cupboards and picture frames, waiting for the night to come out and feast on silverfish, mosquitoes, flies, clothes moths and cockroaches. Yes, geckoes are very good allies to have around the house. They are our free pest control agents. By the way, despite its name, the Turkish gecko was not brought over from Turkey. It's actually quite native.
