GOZO'S population reached 41,253 by the end of 2024, according to new figures released by the National Sta- tistics Office (NSO) ahead of World Population Day. This included 31,761 Maltese citizens and 9,492 foreign na- tionals. The data revealed that Victoria, the capital of Gozo, was the most popu- lous town with 7,524 residents, fol- lowed by Xagħra with 5,359, and Na- dur with 4,630. The smallest town was Għasri, with just 517 residents, mak- ing it one of the island's least densely populated localities. The initiative is aimed at po- sitioning Gozo as a regional hub for investment and sustainable innovation. The announcement was made by Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri, who said the agreement is part of a wider effort to align Gozo with the opportu- nities presented by SiGMA Euro-Med 2025, scheduled to take place in Malta from 1 to 3 September."We want Gozo to benefit from the economic impact of SiGMA," Camilleri said.
