Ġnien Villa Rundle Victoria, Għawdex 14 u 15 T'AWWISSU 2025 WIRJA TAL-BIEDJA U SNAJJA' MINISTERU GĦAL GĦAWDEX U LIPPJANAR PROGRAMM DĦUL B'XEJN FREE ENTRANCE 7 gozotoday | FRIDAY • 25 JULY 2025 CULTURE A charity book fair organised by the Malta Health Association's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee has opened at the Outpatients Department of Gozo General Hospital, with all proceeds going to three local charities. The event, running from 22 Ju- ly to 1 August, offers books for just €2 each or six for €10, with the aim of raising funds for Dr Klown, Jacob's Brew (Survivors Malta), and the Down Syndrome Association Malta. The fair is open to the public and hospital visitors, who can browse a wide selection of do- nated books ranging from fiction and non-fiction to children's lit- erature. Organisers say the ini- tiative combines the promotion of reading with much-needed support for vulnerable commu- nities. "We wanted to create a sim- ple, accessible way for people to contribute to important causes," said a spokesperson for the MHA CSR Committee. "By purchasing a book, you're helping bring joy to hospitalised children, sup- porting trauma survivors, and funding programmes for indi- viduals with Down syndrome." Dr Klown provides therapeu- tic clowning in hospitals across Malta and Gozo, offering emo- tional relief to sick children. Jacob's Brew, run by Survivors Malta, supports families coping with loss and trauma, while the Down Syndrome Association Malta promotes inclusion, edu- cation, and social development for people with Down syndrome. The committee encouraged resi- dents and visitors to participate, noting that "a small purchase can have a big impact." The book fair is part of a broader MHA initiative to encourage commu- nity involvement in healthcare and social wellbeing through volunteerism and philanthropy. For more infor- mation or to donate books, the public is advised to contact the hospital's administra- tion desk. Charity book fair organized at Gozo General Hospital's outpatient department
