In June, Johanna, a logger- head sea turtle observed Nature Trust's FEE Malta volunteers, was seen laying a second nest at Gozo's Ramla l-Ħamra. This is the second of four nests that have hatched in the 2025 season. Ramla l-Ħamra, one of Gozo's most popular beaches, has be- come a safe site for nesting tur- tles in recent years. The hatch- ing comes after weeks of careful monitoring and protection. Officials from ERA and Nature Trust Malta remain on duty at all hours to ensure the safety of the hatchlings and to support Malta's efforts in protecting marine wildlife. 50 turtle eggs hatch at Ramla l-Hamra The fourth turtle nest of the season also hatched at Ramla l-Ħamra It saw 50 baby turtles hatching dur- ing the night. Over the course of 10 hours, around 50 hatch- lings made their way safely to the sea. This nest, that was also hatched by the same turtle named Johanna. How many nests have been found so far? At least six turtle nests have been found in Malta. The nests were discovered at Ramla l-Ħamra and Għadira Bay. The first nest was found at Ġnejna Bay.
