8 maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 10 SEPTEMBER 2025 CULTURE REFLECTIONS on Porcelain is a solo exhibition by Maltese art- ist Nico Conti, taking place at the Malta Society of Arts from 25 September to 23 October 2025. Through five conceptually distinct rooms, the exhibition traces Conti's evolving relationship with porcelain as both materi- al and metaphor. Drawing from personal memory, lit- erary influence, and years of technical refinement, the artist presents porcelain not only as a craft but as a vehicle for narrative, emo- tion, and transformation. Each room functions as a stage in a journey. The exhibition begins with the familiar - a vitrine evoking the memory of untouched por- celain kept behind glass in the artist's grandmother's house - and gradually unfolds into more a b s t r a c t and unfamiliar forms. This progression mirrors a deepening exploration, where porcelain shifts from a domestic object of care and preservation into a medium of experimenta- tion, risk, and expressive free- dom. A mixture of installation and craftsmanship, every room high- lights not only the beauty and versatility of the material but also its ability to create atmos- phere and communicate layered messages. Conti uses 3D-print- ed porcelain, combining tradi- tional techniques with digital innovation, to challenge the perception of ceramics as pure- ly decorative. By foregrounding the emotional and psychological depth of working with porcelain, the exhibition invites reflection on memory, vulnerability, and the transformative potential of art. Reflections on Porcelain: A solo exhibition by Nico Conti at the Malta Society of Arts NEXT month, Puerto Flamen- co opens Teatru Salesjan's Au- tumn Season with a brand-new flamenco experience that builds on last year's unforgettable performance. Once again, the stage will ignite with the power and passion of dancer FRANC- ESCA GRIMA 'LA CHICA', percussionist ANDREJ VU- JICIC, and the remarkable talents of the "young guns" of flamenco: dancer MIGUEL EL RUBIO, vocalist MANUEL NIÑO DE GINES, and guitarist DAVID CARO. Joining them this year is the rhythmic pow- erhouse, dancer ABEL HARA- NA, a true artist's artist, whose vast understanding of the art form is a true inspiration to the lovers of the genre and a masterclass in improvisation and interplay.Together, this ensemble will deliver a show that blends the emotive depth of traditional flamenco with the thrill of spontaneous, con- temporary artistry. Expect new rhythms, fresh energy, and a deep connection to the soul of Andalusia. The four different ticket types: • Cabaret tables, seating four people right in-front of the stage. Two bottles of wine and an Iberian board are included in the ticket • High tables with stools, seating two people up in the balcony sides.
