WORK on the Master Plan for Pjazza San Ġorġ in Rabat is ongoing and an updated design is expected to be pre- sented soon, Lands and Local Government Minister Owen Bonnici told Parliament on Wednesday. Responding to a parliamen- tary question by Opposition MP Chris Said, Bonnici said the revised proposal follows consultations with sever- al stakeholders who made a number of suggestions.The minister confirmed that pay- ments made so far were linked to architectural services for the project and to fees related to the Planning Authority ap- plication. Furthermore, Said asked for details on when the project be- gan, when it is expected to be completed, what progress was made in the past year and how much money had been spent. Bonnici did not provide spe- cific dates or figures but said the project remains active. Back in February of this year, the Lands Authority had sub- mitted a planning application for a masterplan that sets out the extent and design guide- lines for outdoor catering are- as at Pjazza San Ġorġ in Rabat, Gozo. PN Leader Alex Borg said Gozo must be treated differently from Malta, arguing that its full poten- tial can only be realised through long-term planning and sustained investment. He made the comments during a meeting with the Gozo Business Chamber as part of a series of pre- budget consultations ahead of the 2026 Budget.
