8 maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 10 DECEMBER 2025 CULTURE Chucky's solo panto: Jack and the Beanstalk After last year's hugely successful take on Beauty and the Beast, we are back for the ultimate holiday treat at Spazju Kreattiv this Christmas, Chucky's solo panto: Jack and The Beanstalk WRITTEN and Directed by Vikesh Godhwani (Panto in the Dark Series, Jamie Cardona's Mid-Djarju ta' Student fi Sko- la Tal-Knisja), this one-person panto stars Malta's iconic drag queen and Voice of Love Is- land Malta, Chucky, performing every character in a side-split- ting rendition of Jack and The Beanstalk. Expect a riotous blend of pop songs, sharp polit- ical satire, uproarious audience interaction and surprise special guests at every performance! With high camp, drama, and endless laughs, Chucky brings an unforgettable twist to a be- loved tale, promising an alter- native festive offer full of mag- ic, merriment and x-rated fun. A truly laugh-out-loud holiday extravaganza that's bigger and better than ever before! Writer and Director Vikesh Godhwani says, "Last year we were test- ing the waters with this new solo panto format, but after its great success, we've dialed up the madness for this year's edition. We are trying things that haven't been done in the space before and truly pushing boundaries theatrically, which I really feel I can do when I work with the incomparably Chucky Bartolo. I chose Jack and the Beanstalk as I'm interested in the opportunity for satire that it presents - our contemporary giants have more power than ever before, and it was my way of going after them in the way only a good panto can.
