3 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 28 DECEMBER 2025 CULTURE MADC's Snow White opens with magic (and a mirror) at Teatru Salesjan THE festive season has offi- cially begun, with the opening night of MADC's Snow White kicking off a panto performance run that continues throughout Christmas and New Year until 5 January 2026. The sparkling pantomime at Teatru Salesjan is set to match the huge success of last year's sold-out Ebenezer Scrooge! The Panto at the same venue, con- tinuing MADC's decades-long legacy of staging outstanding festive pantos. Written by panto legend Alan Montanaro – who is also back in heels as Dame – and directed by Stephen Oliver, Snow White gives the classic fairytale a magi- cal MADC panto twist. The brilliant cast also includes Melissa Mercieca as Snow White, alongside Sarah Jane Zrinzo as Queen Belladonna, Noel Zarb as Mirror Man, Karl Bartolo and Bertha Farrugia as henchmen Grimble and Sprog, Carla Fenech as Fairy Powder- puff, Ali Kanay Demirci as the Prince, Joe Depasquale as King Bumblebottom and an extraor- dinary ensemble. MADC's highly experienced creative team works their magic behind the scenes, with set de- signer Romualdo Moretti, musi- cal director Ryan Paul Abela and choreographer Martina Galea casting their spell to bring the fairytale world of Snow White to life. The panto picture is com- plete with stunning costumes designed by Alan Montanaro, assisted by Nicole Cuschieri. Packed with standing ova- tion-worthy singing and danc- ing, larger-than-life princesses, villains and mischievous side- kicks, a hilarious script, dazzling costumes and breathtaking sets with a revolving stage, Snow White is an unmissable Christ- mas treat the whole family will love. MADC's Snow White performs in English at Teatru Salesjan, Sliema, from 23 December 2025 to 5 January 2026, with both matinee and evening perfor- mances available.
