7 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 11 JANUARY 2026 COMMERCIAL 388 students graduated from IDEA College Malta on Tuesday, December 9 2025. The event was held at the Hilton Hotel, Malta. The graduates came from 16 nationalities, including Europe, the UK, South America, and Asia. There were 202 local stu- dents and 186 international stu- dents. The students graduated from 38 different programmes of study from the fields of Health, Business Management, Finance and Anti-Money Launder- ing, Governance, Tourism and Hospitality, Construction, Air Transport Management, Tech- nology, and Artificial Intelli- gence. The Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation presided over the ceremony. In his closing address Dr Silvio De Bono, Chairman of IDEA Group, reiterated that in today's world, education is an important enabler to industry. Students are a key resource that this country needs to meet its targets and en- hance its productivity levels. He further emphasised the need to have one ecosystem which facil- ities the process of higher and further education to ensure that Malta would remain competi- tive with other countries that are equally investing in education Engineer Vince Maione, IDEA Group deputy chairper- son, said that as the industry faces skills shortages and labour market mismatches, every qual- ified graduate passing through IDEA College doors becomes part of the solution. Mr. Maione said that the choice to study, or to come to Malta to study, de- serves recognition, and IDEA College is designed with the stu- dent in mind. Dr Nadia Maria Vassallo, principal of IDEA College, urged graduates to uphold so- cial justice, reminding them that IDEA College forms eth- ical professionals who defend human dignity and recognise lives behind strategies, policies, and processes. In a power-driv- en world, the principal called for leadership rooted in equity, compassion, and respect, shap- ing cultures that empower rath- er than silence. During the graduation cer- emony, PS1194 Christopher Debrincat, from the Police Rapid Intervention Unit and a student at IDEA College, was given an award for his bravery. Last month, Mr Debrincat, to- gether with a colleague of his, saved the life of a girl in a life- or-death situation inside a build- ing in Mosta. They managed to rescue the 14-year-old girl after she became trapped in the pent- house of an apartment block that had caught fire, with large flames spreading through the entrance of the complex.
