Protest denounces US ICE killings
Candles were placed outside the US embassy in Ta' Qali by people gathered there to commemorate American citizens Renée Good and Alex Pretti, who were killed in the US by immigration officers in
questionable circumstances. The protest on Tuesday evening was organised by rule of law NGO Repubblika. The Trump administration has given ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) unfettered
power to crack down on illegal immigrants, adopting draconian measures with complete disregard to human rights. Good and Pretti were not immigrants but protestors objecting to the actions of federal ICE
officers. They were shot dead by federal agents in two separate incidents in the state of Minnesota. (Photo: James Bianchi/MaltaToday)
