ART
axis_ opens with Nothing is Clear, a
group exhibition featuring 11 artists
A new exhibition space, axis_,
will open its gallery programme
with a group show titled Nothing
is Clear on 10 April. The exhibi-
tion, curated by Elyse Tonna, will
run until 29 May 2026.
The exhibition features 11 art-
ists: Mario Abela, Justin Falzon,
Laura Besançon, Aaron Bezzina,
Rebecca Bonaci, Kane Calì, Nico
Conti, Ryan Falzon, Romeo Rox-
man Gatt, Sarah Maria Scicluna
and Seb Tanti Burlò.
According to organisers, the ex-
hibition will examine how current
conditions are shaped by overlap-
ping political, social, cultural and
technological factors. It references
issues including geopolitical con-
flict, environmental pressures and
changing social dynamics.
The works include sculpture, in-
stallation and image-based pieces.
Materials such as stone, metal and
porcelain are used to show pro-
cesses such as wear and change
over time. Several works draw on
digital media and collective im-
agery. Organisers said the exhi-
bition focuses on instability and
ongoing change rather than fixed
meanings.
The show includes works pro-
duced at different times, high-
lighting what organisers describe
as continuing underlying condi-
tions across contexts.
The exhibition is hosted at The
Butler's House, a historic building
in Malta, which has been repur-
posed as a cultural site.
Nothing is Clear is the first exhi-
bition organised by axis_ and is
part of the Malta Biennale 2026
programme. It opens on 10 April
and runs until 29 May. Further
