6 COMMERCIAL maltatoday | SUNDAY • 19 APRIL 2026 Farsons Foundation supports Majjistral Nature and History Park THE Farsons Foundation has reaffirmed its longstanding commitment to environmen- tal conservation and education through its sponsorship of the Majjistral Nature and Histo- ry Park, Malta's first National Park. Over a three-year period, the Foundation has provided a significant contribution to- wards the Majjistral Park pro- ject, supporting initiatives that closely align with the Farsons Foundation's mission and ob- jectives related to environmen- tal stewardship, sustainability and education. The final phase of this support has recently been forwarded to the Majjis- tral Park project, marking the conclusion of this important sponsorship programme. To witness firsthand the im- pact of this investment, a site visit to Majjistral Park was held recently, led by Mr Louis A. Farrugia, Chairman of the Far- sons Foundation and accompa- nied by members of the Board of Administrators. During the visit, the delegation met with the Majjistral Park team and viewed the excellent progress being achieved across the Park, as well as the effective and re- sponsible use of the Founda- tion's sponsorship. The Farsons Foundation's support has been specifically directed towards the develop- ment and enhancement of fa- cilities that will be used by stu- dents and young visitors during educational visits to the Park. These facilities play a key role in enabling schools and other learning groups to engage with Malta's natural environment in a structured, hands-on and meaningful way. "The Farsons Foundation is proud to have partnered with Majjistral Park on a project that delivers lasting environ- mental benefits while inspiring future generations to appre- ciate, protect and learn from Malta's natural heritage," said Mr Louis A. Farrugia. Majjistral Nature and History Park is located in the north- west of Malta and encompass- es a six-kilometre stretch of coastline as well as inland are- as rich in natural, cultural and historical heritage. The Park forms part of Natura 2000 sites of international ecological im- portance and includes unique habitats, coastal cliffs, rural landscapes, and restored herit- age structures. In recent years, Majjistral Park has undertaken major initiatives including the res- toration of key buildings at the Għajn Tuffieħa Barracks, extensive afforestation efforts with thousands of indigenous trees planted, habitat resto- ration through the removal of invasive species, and ongoing educational and communi- ty outreach programmes for schools, families and organisa- tions.
