council removes
nitrous oxide
canisters from
countryside
THE Għajnsielem Local Council
said its workers are removing sev-
eral nitrous oxide canisters that
were discarded in the countryside.
In a statement on social media,
the council welcomed the intro-
duction of new legislation prohib-
iting the recreational use of the
canisters, commonly referred to
as "laughing gas".
The council described the le-
gal changes as an important step
forward in safeguarding public
health, particularly among young
people who it said have increas-
ingly been exposed to the sub-
stance in social and recreational
settings.
