ELECTION 2026
PRIME Minister Labour leader
Robert Abela drew compari-
sons between Labour's "Team
Malta" and the PN saying the
electorate will choose between
"a competent team of ministers
who know what they are doing"
and "nothing".
He was addressing thousands
yesterday evening as large
groups of Labour supporters
descended to the Victor
Tedesco Stadium in Ħamrun
on Sunday evening.
Abela framed the speech as a
pitch for continuity, insisting
the government had delivered
on key electoral promises,
including pension increases,
children's allowance hikes, tax
cuts and commitments related
to Manoel Island, White Rocks
and Fort Campbell.
He also highlighted flagship
manifesto proposals such as
the "super bonus", pension
measures, longer maternity
and paternity leave, and free
mental health screening.
Pointing to the European
Commission's spring
economic forecast, Abela
said Malta continued to
register strong economic
growth despite international
challenges, describing the
country as "the best in class".
"The choice you face is
between a competent team
of ministers who know what
they are doing, and on the
other side 'nothing'," he said,
repeatedly questioning who
PN MP Alex Borg would
choose as part of his team.
