BOTANICA Anima: The Soul of Flowers a solo exhibition by Vania Goshe, is taking place at Christine X Art Gallery in Sliema from 5 to 27 June 2026. The exhibition collection ex- amines the emotional and spiritual resonance of f lowers through a deeply personal con- temporary lens. In this new body of work, flowers emerge as more than natural forms; they become symbolic reflections of mem- ory, vulnerability, transforma- tion, and quiet strength. Drawing inspiration from floriography, the historic lan- guage of flowers, Goshe rein- terprets botanical imagery as an intimate visual language ca- pable of expressing what words often cannot. The exhibition unfolds as a meditative journey through stillness and sensation. Each painting invites the viewer into a suspended emotional space where colour, texture, and light communicate subtle states of being. Through restrained compositions and nuanced painterly gestures, Goshe cre- ates works that feel simultane- ously delicate and powerful, fa- miliar yet deeply introspective. Central to the exhibition is the concept Botanica Anima, a title derived from the Latin words for plant and soul. The works suggest that flowers pos- sess an inner life mirroring our own emotional and spiritual experiences. Rather than pre- senting flowers as decorative subjects, Goshe portrays them as silent witnesses to the pas- sage of time and carriers of un- seen emotional narratives. Her floral forms exist beyond fixed geography or chronolo- gy, allowing them to resonate universally across cultures and personal experiences. The qui- et atmosphere of the exhibition encourages viewers to slow down, observe, and reconnect with moments of contempla- tion often lost within everyday life. Born in 1976 in Chirpan, Southeast Bulgaria, Vania Goshe began studying art from a young age before continu- ing her education under the mentorship of several nota- ble Bulgarian artists. She later graduated from the New Bul- garian University in Sofia with a degree in TV and Cinema Camera Operation. Her profes- sional career in television and film saw her working as a vide- ographer and cameraperson on international productions and live television formats includ- ing Big Brother, VIP Brother, and Star Academy. Throughout these years, painting remained an essen- tial part of her creative iden- tity. Since relocating to Malta, Goshe has continued to evolve her artistic language, gaining recognition within the local art scene, including an Honourable Mention at the Malta Society of Arts Annual Exhibition and Competition. Her work reflects a balance between realism and abstraction, often infused with vibrant colour palettes and at- mospheric depth. The Mediterranean environ- ment of Malta has become a significant source of inspi- ration in her practice. The island's luminous light, sea horizons, and architectural textures inform the emotional atmosphere of her paintings, enriching her visual storytell- ing with a sense of warmth, memory, and serenity. The exhibition will be on from 5 to 27 June 2026 from Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 1pm and 4 to 7pm at Christine X Art Gallery in 53, Tigne street, c/w Hughes Hallet street, in Sliema. 3 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 31 MAY 2026 CULTURE The Soul of Flowers: A poetic exploration of nature and inner life The exhibition will run from 5 to 27 June 2026 at the Christine X Art Gallery in Sliema
