10 gozotoday | FRIDAY • 17 JULY 2026 CULTURE Preparations in full swing for the 18th edition of Opera vs Pop Under the Stars PREPARATIONS are in full swing for the 18th Edition of Opera vs Pop Under the Stars, which will take place on Mon- day, 27th July 2026, at 8.30 p.m. in the beautiful Courtyard of the Ministry for Gozo and Planning in Victoria. Organised by the Gozo Youth Orchestra, the concert has be- come one of Gozo's most antic- ipated summer cultural events, attracting audiences with its unique blend of opera, musical theatre, film music and popu- lar classics performed live by a symphony orchestra. The orchestra will perform under the direction of its founder and Music Director, Mro Dr Joseph Grech, who is currently leading intensive rehearsals with the orchestra and soloists in preparation for what promises to be another memorable evening of music. This year's featured soloists are Pamela Cibrano, Ludwig Galea, and Noel Galea, together with guest artists Rachel Fabri, Fa- bian Galea, and Graziella De- Battista. The programme will feature a colourful selection of oper- atic favourites, timeless mu- sical theatre classics, interna- tionally renowned film music and popular hits, showcasing the versatility of the orchestra and its distinguished vocalists. The concert continues to offer a musical experience that ap- peals to audiences of all ages while celebrating the richness and diversity of live perfor- mance. The event is supported by the Ministry for Gozo, Visit Malta, The General Soft Drinks Co. Ltd, Arts Council Malta, The Duke Boutique Hotel, and Paul Stellini Design Studio, whose continued collaboration helps make this annual production possible.
