9 maltatoday | WEDNESDAY • 22 JULY 2026 CULTURE Special late-night buses to run after Isle of MTV Malta concert MALTA Public Transport will operate a series of special late- night bus services to help con- certgoers travel home after the Isle of MTV Malta 2026 concert, headlined by Katy Perry, at the Granaries in Floriana on 22 July. Malta Public Transport said the additional services will complement its regular night route network, with buses de- parting from Valletta from 11pm onwards to destinations across Malta. The extra routes will serve a wide range of localities, in- cluding Sliema, St Julian's, Qa- wra, Buġibba and Mellieħa, as well as Mosta, Rabat, Mtarfa, Żebbuġ, Marsaskala, Marsax- lokk, Birżebbuġa, Xgħajra and the Three Cities. Services will continue into the early hours of Thursday, with some routes operating until around 2am. In addition to the dedicated Isle of MTV services, Malta Public Transport said its regu- lar night routes, including the N3, N13, N48, N52, N62, N71, N82 and N91, will continue operating, with increased fre- quencies on several routes fol- lowing the concert. Passengers holding a valid personalised Tallinja Card will be able to use both the spe- cial and regular night services free of charge. Those without a Tallinja Card can purchase tickets directly on board for €3, with payment accepted by cash or contactless card. Isle of MTV Malta, first held at the Floriana Granaries in 2007, has become one of the island's biggest annual music events, attracting thousands of fans every summer with free performances by internation- al artists. Over the years, the festival has featured major acts including Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg, David Guetta and Jason Derulo. The tour offers insight into the ideas, re- search, and technologies behind the works, and reflect on how machines, avatars, and nonhuman beings shape the way we see and experience the world on 22 July at 5pm. Letta Shtohryn (UA / AT) is a Ukrainian artist working across XR performance, motion capture, CGI, game dev and generative AI. In her practice, she brings spec- ulative storytelling into live im- mersive environments that inves- tigate embodiment in relation to non-human life forms, machines, avatars, monsters, and ghosts. Drawing inspiration from intui- tive epistemologies, archaeology, history, weirdness, sci-fi and video games, she employs speculation to explore both factual and fictional storytelling and their effects IRL. Since 2021, she has been pur- suing a PhD in Media Art at the University of Malta specialising in XR, motion-capture performance, streaming, liveness, and video games. In the summer semester of 2025, her PhD research was host- ed at the Department of Trans- media Arts, University of Applied Arts Vienna (Die Angewandte). Her work has been shown inter- nationally, including at Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles (Paris, FR), Deep Space 8K @ Ars Electron- ica Center (AT), Zinnema Brus- sels (BE), Ars Electronica Festival (AT), Hellerau Biennale (DE), Friche la Belle de Mai (FR), Centre Pompidou (FR), Goldsmiths Col- lege, University of London (UK), Kunsthalle Exnergasse (AT), MU- ZA (MT), Spazju Kreattiv (MT), Milan Machinima Festival (IT) among others.
