The National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) is urging Gozitans to attend a blood donation session taking place this Sunday, stressing that the need for blood remains constant despite the sum- mer season. The session will be held at the Xewkija Commu- nity Clinic on Sunday, 26 July, between 8:00am and 1:00pm. The service said regular donations are es- sential to ensure patients receive the blood they need without delay and to main- tain a stable national blood supply. The NBTS also an- nounced that it has up- dated its donor eligibility guidelines, removing re- strictions on a number of medications. Prospective donors seeking more in- formation on their eligibil- ity can contact the service on 2206 6201, 7930 7307 or the freephone number 8007 4313. Donors are reminded to bring a Maltese ID card, driving licence or passport, drink plenty of water be- fore donating, have a light snack rather than a heavy meal, and wear loose-fit- ting clothing with sleeves that can be easily rolled up.
