Curated by axis_ Artistic Director Elyse Tonna, the ex- hibition brings together twelve artists whose works consider the relationships that shape how we understand ourselves, one an- other and the worlds we inhabit. Featuring Kamy Aquilina, Sa- rah Bonaci, Maria Borg, Giola Cassar, Martina Darmanin, Yana Fenech, Nina Gerada, Ġulja Hol- land, Tina Mifsud, Lucia Seifert, Rasha Belle Zammit Cutajar and Jade Zammit, the exhibition pre- sents new and existing works across painting, photography, cyanotype, print, textile and ce- ramics. What Moves Between Us be- gins from the understanding that who we are is never formed in isolation. We carry experienc- es of people, places and histories with us, sometimes consciously and sometimes in ways that on- ly become apparent over time. The exhibition looks at what is shared, inherited, absorbed or left behind, moving through memory, intimacy, care, desire and absence, alongside our rela- tionships with landscapes, plants and other species. Beyond Ourselves, What We Carry and Where We Meet pro- vide three points of departure across the exhibition. Together, they move between what lies outside the individual, what re- mains with us and what takes place through encounter. Their boundaries are deliberately loose. What we inherit enters the relationships we form, what we encounter can become some- thing we carry and what sur- rounds us inevitably affects how we understand ourselves. What Moves Between Us fol- lows Nothing is Clear, the in- augural exhibition of axis_, and continues the development of its artistic programme. Located at The Butler's House adjacent to Villa Bologna in Attard, axis_ is a contemporary art space present- ing exhibitions, artistic com- missions, public programmes and learning initiatives. Its pro- gramme brings together estab- lished and developing practices, with an emphasis on creating sustained opportunities for art- ists and bringing contemporary art into conversation with dif- ferent audiences and fields of knowledge. A public programme will accompany the exhibition, including a children's work- shop on 26 September and a curatorial tour on 14 October, alongside further events to be announced. The exhibition will conclude with a finissage on 15 November. What Moves Between Us opens at axis_ on 3 Septem- ber 2026 at 7:30pm and runs until 15 November 2026. The launch of the exhibition is open to the public and everyone can attend.
