During the concert, donations were collected in aid of Hospice Malta in order to continue the help it provides through pallia- tive care, along with support to patients and their families. With the theme Melodija Maltija, this year's edition cele- brated the songs and melodies that have shaped Malta's musi- cal identity over the years, from classics that have remained in the collective memory to songs from more recent times. The Malta Philharmonic Or- chestra, under the direction of Maestro Kevin Abela and with the participation of several guest singers, breathed new life into these melodies in a musi- cal evening in the wonderful atmosphere offered by the Gir- genti Palace. The evening was also dedicat- ed to the memory of Maestro Aurelio Belli, in recognition of his important and enduring contribution to the music and cultural heritage of our country. In a comment during the evening, Lydia Abela said that the best way to remem- ber Maestro Aurelio Belli is through the music to which he loved so much and to which he dedicated a large part of his life. She insisted that the legacy he left through his music will live on and will continue to touch all those who had the good for- tune to meet him or enjoy his talent. Abela also spoke about the importance of Hospice Malta's work, particularly in difficult times where the patient and his family need not only medical care, but also support, compan- ionship, compassion and digni- ty.
