The opening was attended by members of the diplomatic corps, honorary consuls, representa- tives of Bulgarian institutions, the cultural sector and the business community. The ceremony included ad- dresses by Yavor Koinakov, Di- rector of the State Institute for Culture; Dr Boris Boyanov, Hon- orary Consul of Malta in Bulgaria; Emil Iliev, Mayor of Strumyani; and H.E. Anne Marie Muscat Fenech Adami, Non-Resident Ambassador of Malta to Bulgar- ia. The ceremony was presented by Marisa Falzon. Ambassador Muscat Fenech Adami highlighted the impor- tant role of cultural diplomacy in strengthening friendship and people-to-people relations be- tween Malta and Bulgaria. The occasion also provided an oppor- tunity to express solidarity with the Municipality of Strumyani following the recent flooding. The Sofia exhibition was sup- ported through the Cultural Di- plomacy Fund of Malta's Min- istry for Foreign and European Affairs and has received signifi- cant media coverage in Bulgaria. Following its presentation in Sofia, "Bridging Horizons" will continue in Malta, with the open- ing taking place on 6 November 2026 at Tal-Għaqba Windmill in Naxxar. The Malta exhibition, funded by the Malta Tourism Authority, will run until 11 No- vember 2026, further strength- ening cultural exchange between Malta and Bulgaria.
