7 maltatoday | SUNDAY • 4 OCTOBER 2026 COMMERCIAL Marsovin releases Grand Maître 2024 MARSOVIN Winery announc- es the release of Grand Maître 2024, 'Fra' Emmanuel de Ro- han-Polduc', the 27th edition of its flagship wine. First produced in 1998, Grand Maître remains one of Marsovin's most signif- icant releases, shaped by pre- cision, patience and a deep re- spect for the estate from which it originates. Produced under the exclusive appointment of the Maltese Association Sovereign Military Order of Malta, Grand Maître pays tribute to a different Grand Master in chronological order with each vintage. The 2024 re- lease honours Fra' Emmanuel de Rohan-Polduc, carrying forward a series defined by historical tribute, estate provenance and Marsovin's approach to wine- making. The wine is produced from handpicked Cabernet Sauvi- gnon and Cabernet Franc grapes grown at Għajn Riħana, Marso- vin's private estate in the Għa- jn Riħana Valley. Planted with 8,000 vines on dry, clay-rich cal- careous soils, the estate offers a distinctive setting for these no- ble French grape varieties, giv- ing Grand Maître its structure, depth and enduring character. "Grand Maître symbolizes Marsovin's commitment and passion to winemaking and vit- iculture as well as its to appre- ciation and respect toward the Sovereign military order of Mal- ta." stated Jeremy Cassar, CEO and 4th Generation of the Cas- sar family. The 2024 vintage was defined by extreme aridity and pro- longed summer heatwaves. A dry winter was briefly re- lieved by a February hail- storm, while heavy May rain- fall preceded intense heat from mid-June to a blistering July. These conditions hastened vine development, leading to an ex- ceptionally early harvest. As a consequence, grape yields de- clined, yet grape quality was outstanding, producing small, concentrated berries with high sugar, robust polyphenols, and vibrant acidity. The wine displays a vibrant ru- by-red hue. The nose is elegant and concentrated, revealing ripe plum and prune aromas. The mid-palate reveals rich black fruit, notably blackberry, lead- ing to a slightly inky finish with smooth, velvety tannins.
