Geological and geotechnical studies
planned for Kenuna Tower
THE government is in discus-
sions with Malta University En-
terprises to engage specialists to
assess the stability of the cliff sup-
porting Kenuna Tower in Nadur,
Gozo.
Gozo Minister Clint Camilleri
said the specialists would carry
out geological and geotechnical
investigations to evaluate the
condition of the cliff and identify
the interventions needed to en-
sure the stability and safety of the
historic tower.
Camilleri was replying to a a
parliamentary question by Na-
tionalist MP Frank Anthony Tab-
one, who asked about the current
stage of works on the tower, when
they are expected to be complet-
ed, and its structural condition,
including whether there is a risk
of partial or total collapse.
Camilleri said the specialists
would also prepare the techni-
cal specifications and financial
estimates required for a call for
tenders.
They would subsequent-
ly provide technical assistance
throughout the tendering pro-
cess and supervise the works car-
ried out by the contractor select-
ed for the project.
The minister did not provide
a timeline for the completion
of the works or directly clarify
whether the tower is currently at
risk of partial or total collapse.
