THE ARCHITECT:
ANTOINE ZAMMIT
Way back in 2007, when Dr Antoine Zammit penned Notes on Materiality for The
Architect, he was reflecting on the relationship between materials, context, environ-
ment and architectural detail. But perhaps unknowingly, as he quoted Erik Brygg-
man's observation that "beauty comes from having everything in the right place",
he was already articulating ideas that would eventually become central to his archi-
tectural expression: a careful, contextual approach to design. Looking back at those
words almost two decades later, they offer a fitting starting point for a conversation
about the ideas that shaped his architecture.
