his home in
Victoria, Gozo,
is still under
construction, but
it already has a mind of
its own. The proposed
interiors bring together
familiar, reassuring details
and a healthy appetite
for colour, with warmth
in the wood, elegance in
the panelling and enough
playfulness to give the
more traditional influences
a slightly playful edge.
It is a combination that
allows the house to feel
settled while leaving
space for a few surprises.
Arches, framed cabinetry
and strong ceiling lines
provide the structure
that makes this possible.
Against that backdrop, a
scalloped light, a curving
mirror or an unexpectedly
cheerful piece of furniture
can afford to be a little
less serious. These details
soften the formality of
the setting, introducing a
