18 Events maltatoday, WEDNESDAY, 13 NOVEMBER 2013 Ten Tenses – MJMDA's ten-year Anniversary Exhibition TEN: The first of the double digits. A milestone, but not the mile stone. A reflective pause before the rest of the journey. Ten is energetic, still young and hungry for adventure – nevertheless it's sharp and understands the world around it. TEN is an exhibition set up by Matthew James Mercieca Design Architects (MJMDA) to share their journey to date and project their visions for the future. MJMDA is Ten – Ten is an exhibition that will look into sharing MJMDA's tenses with a broader audience to: Look into the past, celebrate accomplishments and the journey that got them to where they are today. Share present projects, to incite a higher awareness of what it takes to create products to our desired multidisciplinary technicality. Peek into the Architectural visions of the future through exploration and dedicated development in collaboration with Architecture and Engineering students from the University of Malta. Established in 2003 by Archi- tect Matthew J. Mercieca, MJMDA (Matthew James Mercieca Design Architects) now excels at designing and executing projects in their entirety thanks to its strongly melded multi-disciplined team. This project methodology is not co-incidental and was one of the key visions of the founder, to carry projects from the concept stages right through to the finishes until they are in a userready state. MJMDA, in almost all cases has managed to assure by way of commitment truly user enhancing architectural solutions. With a comprehensive list of completed projects, the Team has amassed a cutting edge working spirit and refined expertise. The Firm has been commissioned with the execution of key projects ranging from single new-build dwellings, single unit rehabilitations, multiunit dwellings, food and beverage outlets, retail outlets and offices and office complexes. This exhibition has been laid out to give the public a peek in to the way MJMDA carries out these projects, elaborating on the techniques used to ensure that projects are holistically delivered to our clients. Being held at the new Pace and Mercieca premises in Mriehel, a building by MJMDA in it's finishing stages, the event will run between the 8th – 17th November 2013. The airline announced it will boost the children's content on its awardwinning in-flight entertainment system, ice Digital Widescreen (information, communication, entertainment) in time for the busy travel season. From new release movies and Disney classics to a massive selection of TV programmes, December will be a great month to fly Emirates with the family. Children on an Emirates flight in December have more than 50 hours of kid-friendly TV waiting for them. New features on ice Digital Widescreen include Nickelodeon featuring Bubble Guppies, Spongebob and Team Umizoomi, plus new and updated channels dedicated to Thomas & Friends, Dora the Explorer, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Austin & Ally, and The Gruffalo. This is in addition to the BBC's CBeebies, preschool channel Disney Jr., Cartoon Network and over 15 channels of top children's television. ice Digital Widescreen's movie line-up is also guaranteed to keep just about any child occupied with new releases for kids headed up by Despicable Me 2 and the smash hit, One Direction: This is Us, just two of 15 recent movies that children will love including The Smurfs 2, Planes, and The Croods. Many of these movies are available in up to seven different languages and close to half offer closed captions for the hard of hearing. These lectures will be held at Palazzo de la Salle in Republic Street, Valletta today and 14, 15 November at 6pm and 8pm. Preperations are well underway to hold the 16th edition of History Week which this year will see the participation of a healthy mix of established historians such as Prof. Stanley Fiorini and Dr William Zammit, and a number of emerging historians who will be given a chance to present various aspects of their research. While it is hoped that these lectures will help provoke an awareness of history and heritage, the general public is invited to attend and participate in the ensuing discussions which promise to be highly interesting. Founded in 1950, the Malta Historical Society is Malta's leading non-governmental and not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting the academic study and diffusion of Maltese history and culture. The society's committee is composed of eleven members of whom Judge Giovanni Bonello is President and Professor Mario Buhagiar, formerly Head of the Department of History of Art of the University of Malta, is Vice-President.
