The result for Vittoriosa gives them a lifeline to avoid the drop. As for Rabat they remain at the bottom of the standings with just six points. This was their sev- enteenth defeat in twenty-one matches. The match started with both teams attacking and on the 18th minute, Vittoriosa's Francisco Ar- riagada Mella had his attempt on goal go just wide. A minute later, Rabat's Diego Carrillo had his powerful shot just scrape past the post. Rabat's goalkeeper Pavle Velimi- rovic performed a great save on the 35th minute, tipping the ball over the crossbar. Vittoriosa managed to take the lead on the 43rd minute. Off a cross by Gilbert Martin, Rabat's goal- keeper blocked the shot but off the rebound, Marcelo Pereira headed the ball into the net. On the 54th minute, Rabat came close to scoring when off a corner by Diego Carrillo Pendas, the clear- ance was short and Joseph Carua- na's close-range shot hit the foot of the post. Both teams continued to have great goal scoring chances, but it would be Vittoriosa that were able to take home the precious three points.
