maltatoday, WEDNESDAY, 5 FEBRUARY 2014 Sport 22 MOTORSPORTS TABLE FOOTBALL WEIGHTLIFTING Races continue as Motocross track project is concluded THE 8th ASMK – Pasta Poiatti National Autocross event will take place next Sunday 9th February starting at noon. The cars will be run in a normal track pattern which also includes an S Bend prior to the finish. Maltese and Gozo drivers will be competing in separate classes. As from last Monday 27th Janu- ary works commenced on the Moto- cross track by expert Track Builder Angelo Cinquemani. Angelo modi- fied the track height and width, the ramps and all parts of the track to make it more practical for both the experienced and novices to moto- cross racing. Yet, the shape of the track is still the same. These works were made possible by the use of construction equipment from Cen- tral Asphalt, Asfaltar, Philip Agius & Sons and Bonnici Bros. and some financial assistance from MOC and KMS. Despite bad weather during the week on some days yet nothing seemed to halt Angelo's abilities driving different excavators to pro- duce excellent results on track. He created a high level track which at- tracts new riders to this location. Foreign riders can compete with the Maltese riders too. All works were almost finished on time and the MX Riders can start again their training sessions in about a week's time. An- gelo is to return back to the track in Malta in a month's time to carry out any improvements if needed. Atten- tion was also paid to the finishing and embellishment too. The new MX Tracks will be open to all riders on a fixed timed sched- ule and also is to include training sessions for those riders who will be soon competing in the FMI Regional Motocross Championships in Sicily in various Classes. This weekend four ASMK MX riders will be carrying out Practical Training Sessions at the MX Track in Hi-Fly (SR). Clayton Camilleri, Paul Muscat, Darren Mizzi and Ed- ward Ciantar will be racing at Hi-Fly prior to their participation in the FMI Championship starting on the 23rd February.
