maltatoday, WEDNESDAY, 5 MARCH 2014 Sport 22 MOTORSPORTS BILLIARD FOOTBALL Dr Chris Bonett Co-Opted as Vice/ President of Inter Club Malta AFTER a recent re-shuff le of the committee of Inter Club Malta, Dr. Chris Bonett has been co- opted as the new Vice-President of the club. Dr. Chris Bonett is a 32-year-old law yer, who is very passionate on football and especially on the In- ternazionale F.C. of Milano. Deeply involved in the admin- istration of football in Malta, Dr. Bonett is currently one of the Vice Presidents and the Head of the Le- gal Department at the Malta Foot- ball Association. He graduated as a law yer in 2007, and amongst other things, he has served for five years as the Mayor of the localit y of Gzira. A regular attendee at In- ter Club Malta, Dr. Bonett admits that his passion for Inter started at a very tender age and gives credit for his passion for Inter mainly to the ex-player, and Inter legend, the German Karl-Heinz Rum- menigge. Another post was assigned to Kevin Vella who from a commit- tee member was promoted to as- sistant General Secretary. Dr. Chris Bonett THE Malta Eight Ball Federation for the first time in Malta streamed the Open Category final live online. For this pilot project the most prestig- ious games will be streamed, giving coverage to the game to a global audi- ence on a unique scale. This project will be increased in the future. Fans were able to view the on-line stream- ing free of charge. This will give great access to fans of the game to watch live matches. Our target is to extend this project to international events when the Maltese teams are abroad participating in the most prominent eight ball tournaments. The final games of the Third Rank- ing Tournament (BLACK BALL) were played on Friday 28th February 2014. In the Open category Philip Ciantar defeated Mario Brincat 10-8. Owen Amato defeated Darren Schembri 10-4 in the under 23's cat- egory. Brian Cini defeated Miguel Amato 8-2 in the under 18 category. Roberta Cutajar was in top form when she defeated Vanessa Tedesco 6-1 in the women's final game. The over 40 category was won by Jes- mond Schembri when he defeated Neville Cassar 8-0. 110 players booked their place to form part of the Fourth Ranking Tournament. These ranking tour- naments will determine who will represent the Malta Eight Ball Fed- eration (BLACK BALL) during the European open which will be held in Bridlington next April. Malta Eight Ball Federation streams tournaments live online Exciting races expected for the ASMK Autocross and Motocross next Sunday ON Sunday 9th March 2014 Assoc- jazzjoni Sport Muturi u Karozzi will be organising the 10th Autocross event and the 4th Motocross event in the ASMK Pasta Poiatti 2013/14 National Championships. First race starts at 11.00am. A look into the Autocross National Champion scale we find Melo Zam- mit as the current leader on his Mk3 Ford Escort No. 61. Zammit has se- cured his placing with 154 points. Runner-up is Gordon Johnson with 116 points won on his Peugeot 205 No. 71. Johnson lies 1 point ahead of 3rd placed Christian Mark Galea on his Fiat Ritmo No.2 with 115 points while Vince Farrugia is 4th overall on his Volkswagen Polo b'110 points. Surely this placing is drawing great attention from all Autocross lovers due to such close placing. Domenic Zammit is leading the Gozo Autocross scale on his Alfa Sud though he missed one event. Joseph Agius and Joseph Vella both on Ford Fiesta lies in 2nd and 3rd place re- spectively. Marvin Grima is placed 4th overall because he started late in the championship dates. Next event might change these placings. Camilleri brothers Clayton in Class A and Kyle in Class B domi- nate both Motocross Championship classes. Both Clayton who rides a KTM 250cc and Kyle who rides an 85cc Suzuki MX bike have won the maximum of 75 points each in their respective classes. Paul Muscat is placed 2nd overall with 66 points while his brother Trever is 3rd over- all with 56 points. Both Paul and Trever ride KTM 250cc MX bikes. Edward Ciantar is placed 4th with 56 points in three races. Kyle Camilleri who rides one of the smallest engine capacity bikes has won his first 3 races in a row and gained a maximum of 75 points in the Championship scale. It seems that Kyle got well used to the new track modifications and is rid- ing with greater technique. Pierre Jourdan on a KTM 150cc won 44 points so far while Karl Micallef on a Honda 250cc is placed 3rd over- all with 42 points. Young Nicovich Chircop on a KTM 85cc is placed 4th overall with 34 points. The Trials event which was sched- uled to be held last Sunday 2nd March was postponed to another date due to bad weather and to se- cure the riders safety at it best. The ASMK organising committee will be announcing a new date and location for the next Trials Competition. Practice sessions for cars and motorcycles will be held on Satur- day from 11.00am. Hopefully, the weather will be fine resulting in a good Motocross track condition so the motocross practice sessions and the Sunday races can be held. Entrance to the paddocks during the Saturday Practice Sessions will be for Free for all.
