THIS WEEK 16 MUSIC & NIGHTLIFE TONIGHT Show me the funny Stand-up comedy show at Rookies Bar, Bugibba. Featuring Joe Depasquale, Malcolm Galea, Steve Hili, Marie-Claire Pellegrini and James Ryder. Doors open 21:00. MARCH 21 The Suburbanite Concert by The Suburbanite (Robert Pisani) at Coach and Horses, Valley Road, Msida. He will be joined by musicians from Stolen Creep and Krishna, and supported by Dan Abdilla from Megafun. Entrance is at €2 at the door. MARCH 22 Most intimate: Concert by Claire Tonna Maltese singer-songwriter Claire Tonna will be performing at The Royal British Legion Bar, Melita Street, Valletta. The concert will feature songs from the singer's album The Port – with which she toured across New Zealand last year. She will be accompanied by a band which will include: Cello – José Goruchapa (Spain); Piano – Mario Sammut; Drums – Michael Galea; Guitar – Sean Decelis; Backing Vocals – Justin Galea; Writer/Narrator – Maria Mar (New Zealand). MARCH 27 Spotlight Concert Concert at the Manoel Theatre, Valletta. The recital features works from the 19th century and the first decade of the 20th century. Although it was quite late in the 20th century that the viola started achieving recognition as a solo instruments, there are nonetheless works written for the instrument before this period. Two such works are Glinka's Sonata and Enescu's Konzertstuck. The program also includes Schumann's Fantasiestucke, originally composed for clarinet and piano and Franck 's Violin Sonata, both to be performed on the viola. Starts at 20:00. MARCH 30 Music and Steel Festival Music festival of rock, ska, tribal, new folk and pop featuring Tribali, Airport Impressions, The Rifffs, Red Electrick, The Crowns and The New Victorians at the Malta Shipbuilding, Marsa. The first band hits the stage at 19:30 and the last one at midnight. Entrance is free. THEATRE & DANCE MARCH 21-23 Adult Entertainment Comedy by Elaine May, staged at St James Cavalier, Valletta from 20:00. Directed by Marylu Coppini with music by Louiselle Vassallo. Cast includes: Isabel Warrington, Stefan Cachia Zammit, Stefan Farrugia, Katherine Brown, Kate de Cesare and Philip Leone Ganado. The play is rated 18+. Tickets are at €20. MARCH 29, 30; APRIL 4-6 Double Fo A 'double-bill' of plays by renowned Italian dramatist Dario Fo by Unifaun Theatre at Manoel Theatre, Valletta – featuring The Virtuous Burglar and Marcolfa. The plays will include an acclaimed cast featuring Alan Montanaro, Alan Paris, Mikhail Basmadjian, Philip Stilon, Renato Dimech, Coryse Borg, Charlotte Grech and Magda Van Kuilenburg. UNTIL MARCH 31 Maltese Maritime Graffiti Exhibition of historical graffiti at the Malta Maritime Museum, Birgu. The exhibition is based on the pioneering research work by the Museums Department former employee Joseph Muscat and his recent donation of various casts of ship graffiti to the museum. A number of salvaged original graffiti will also be displayed, including a large ship. graffito and legend dating to 1766 salvaged from a demolished residence in Zurrieq. MARCH 28 Two – Book Launch Merlin Publishers book launch for Teodor Reljic's debut novel, Two, at the Wignacourt Museum, Rabat at 20:00. During the event, visitors will get to look through previously-submitted anonymous secrets, and also write and deposit their own anonymous secrets in select areas around the venue, guided by a trio of performers. Copies of the book will be on sale for the very first time, and free drinks and nibbles will also be served.
