maltatoday, WEDNESDAY, 19 MARCH 2014 9 JOHN PISANI SOURCES close to the organisers of the Rock Opera Gensna told MaltaToday that both upcoming shows, set to take place this week- end, will be put up at the MFCC in Ta' Qali. Monday's accident at the MFCC – when a structure collapsed onto the stage leaving three injured and one critical – left the organisers with a big question mark. "The show must and will go on," said one of our sources. But producer David Borg yester- day evening confirmed that the shows will be held at the MFCC. Borg said the arch was an inte- gral part of the MFCC tent and was also used in all productions for light fixtures. He made it clear that the Gensna stage did not col- lapse. Contacted by MaltaToday, Borg confirmed that the Saturday and Sunday shows will be put up as scheduled. There were moments of uncer- tainty when the organisers were considering a change of venue: "Safety is our main concern and we did not exclude staging the show elsewhere", said he told Mal- taToday. Meanwhile, Emanuel Ronayne, 48 from Fgura, is still in critical condition in the Intensive Treat- ment Unit. He suffered chest inju- ries including broken ribs, spinal injuries and other serious injuries. Three others, aged 26 from Ka- lkara, 31 from Cospicua, and 23 from Fgura, were treated for minor injuries and shock. The four were employees of Nexos and Raymond Vella Lighting and under the struc- ture at the time of the accident. On a slightly curious note, photo- graphs of the fallen structure were released on Facebook by the police on Monday, only to be removed a few hours later. When asked why the photos were deleted from the social networking website, the po- lice told this newspaper that there was "something wrong" with the photographs, while denying that they were instructed to remove the photographs by a third party. News Government holds security clearance was given before promotions Jason Azzopardi and Beppe Fenech Adami Captain and commander: the legal battle over berthing ment breached their rights as the original contract bore the wordings 'permanent' which was also shown on their re- ceipts. The Constitutional Court decreed that the owners had acquired rights through the original rental contract. "Such rights enjoy the protection of the court, and the state is bound that people enjoy their proper- t y. The Authorit y ignored such rights and unilaterally called into force a new agreement," the judge said. Mr Justice Joseph Zammit McKeon ruled that the Author- it y's decision was in violation of the tenants' fundamental hu- man right to enjoyment of their propert y. Transport Malta was ordered to revert back to the permanent and indefinite con- tracts and any increase in fees has to be applied in a structured and reasonable manner. Law yers David Camilleri and Joseph Gatt appeared for the claimants. PHOTOGRAPHY BY RAY ATTARD Rock Opera Gensna to go on at MFCC James Piscopo
