HSBC UK Contact Centre Malta employee awards GasanMamo supports 'Hsiltilkom Saqajkom' HSBC Malta supports Angel Tree Club Malta student competition GasanMamo together with other sponsors is support- ing 'Hsiltilkom Saqajkom', an exhibition of 18 life size statues organised for Holy Week by the Mifsud fam- ily at Bir Miftuh Chapel in Gudja. The display will run from Saturday 12th April till Good Friday. The display 'Hsiltilkom Saqajkom' was exhibited for the first time in 1999. The first display was very differ- ent from the one held today. Although life size statues al- ready existed at the time, fol- lowing deeper thoughts and research, the Mifsud family decided to create something different to give more artis- tic value to their display. The biblical statues, which take the visitor through the Pesah atmosphere, are of hu- man size and their facial ex- pressions together with the lightning and oil lamps give a unique atmosphere and entrance to the chapel, re- minding the vvisitors of the Holy story that happened more than 2000 years ago. Before entering the cenacle the visitors can see a man with the amphora exactly as described in the Bible. In the cenacle one can find other statues, that of a Jew- ish man sprinkling the blood of a lamb on the side of the house, a statue of a woman whose name was Mary, mother of St Mark, who ac- cording to research, was the owner of the cenacle. Another statue is an old man, standing near the To- rah after reading the psalms. Outside the cenacle one can find a Jewish man walking in the narrow road with a light in his hand showing the symbol of light. Camilleri Cauchi made the statues of Jesus and the twelve apostles while all the other statues are being done by James Az- zopardi. The exhibition will be open on Saturday 12 April between 18:00 and 21:00, Sunday 13 April between 09:00 and 12:00 and 18:00 and 21:00, Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 April between 18:00 and 21:00, Wednesday 16 April between 18:00 and 21:00, Thursday 17 April between 09:00 and 12:00 and 18:00 and 00:00, and Good Friday on 18 April between 09:00 and 13:00. Further details can be ob- tained by calling Jean Pierre on 79820917. An Angel Tree Club art and essay com- petition collected close to 300 paintings and essays from school students across Malta and Gozo. A selection of the com- petition entries was later exhibited for the public at the Ministry for Education and Employment in Floriana. The artworks competition was or- ganised by the Angel Tree Club, within the National Campaign for the Preven- tion of Crime, in collaboration with the HSBC Malta Foundation in support of children who must cope with the chal- lenges of having a relative in prison. The aim of the activity was to encourage lo- cal school students to think about crime prevention and to express their views. The Minister for Education and Em- ployment Evarist Bartolo, together with the Commissioner for Children in Malta Mrs. Helen D'Amato, and HSBC Malta Foundation Deputy Chairperson Sa- rah Watkinson, attended the event to reward the successful students and to inaugurate the art exhibition. Together with prizes for outstanding entries, a special award was given to St Benedict College Ħal Għaxaq Primary for the highest number of submissions from a single school. "The artworks show a great deal of depth of thought and compassion, as well as impressive talent, from students across Malta and Gozo," said Mark Vel- la, Director of Prison Fellowship Malta. "Children growing up with an incar- cerated family member must cope with social stigma, concerns and challenges generated by this situation. The compe- tition is one way the Prison Fellowship Malta's Angel Tree Club is reaching out to children to encourage them to think about and discuss their thoughts on this important and delicate subject." Prison Fellowship is a Christian out- reach organisation dedicated to helping prisoners, ex-prisoners, victims of crime and their families. Angel Tree Club is a Prison Fellowship programme reaching out to children of inmates and their families to offer sup- port and address the physical, emotion- al, and spiritual needs of the prisoners' families. 2nd Chance Scratchers winners announced (From left to right) HSBC Malta Foundation Deputy Chairperson Sarah Watkinson, Minister Evarist Bartolo, and Commissioner for Children Helen D'Amato congratulating competition winners before the top three competition entries Maltco Lotteries Ltd. has announced that the win- ners for the past 4 draws of the 2nd Chance Instant Scratchers are Ms Lourdes Abdilla from Qrendi who won the January draw, Ms Mary Dolores Darmanin from Hamrun who won the February draw, Ms Grace Galea from St Paul's Bay who won the March draw and Ms Patricia Sammut from Zebbug who won the April draw.
