Hilton Malta hosts dinner for RA1SE Team heading to Zambia Announcement by Maltco Lotteries Ltd THE 2014 marketing campaign for Hilton Malta entitled "Your Pleas- ure for Today" features Julian Az- zopardi, the man behind the chari- table organisation RA1SE. Hilton Malta has pledged to in- clude awareness about RA1SE in all its upcoming TV and Facebook campaigns, in a bid to raise funds for the NGO. On the 10th April, Hilton Malta hosted a dinner at Bottega del Vino as a send off for the team of 13 Raise volunteers heading off to Lusaka, Zambia to help in the construction of an orphanage. The new advertising campaign, which is handled by Active En- terprises Ltd andshall be aired on prime time TV as well as print me- dia, sees Mr. Azzopardi taking us through a culinary tour of Hilton Malta restaurants. It takes its in- spiration from the popular Food Trekker aired on the Food Channel. The scope is to present the diverse culinary world of Hilton Malta, where one can get a taste of Thai- land at the Blue Elephant, sample cuisine from France and Italy at Bottega del Vino or experience the Mediterranean at its best at both Oceana and Quarterdeck. The idea was to sell an experience, hence the campaign title 'Your Pleasure for Today'. "We chose Julian Azzopardi to be Malta's very own Anthony Bourdain, not for his culinary expertise, but because we truly believe in his cause for worldwide NGO support," said Melanie Deguara, Marketing Manager, Hilton Malta. RA1SE is an NGO established to raise awareness, interest, support and engagement in NGO work in Malta and abroad. "Our mission is to engage indi- viduals and private businesses, as well as NGOs, in the increasingly important work of NGOs around the world by providing possibilities for collaborative working on partic- ular projects, volunteering oppor- tunities, fund raising activities and awareness raising," explained Julian Azzopardi, RA1SE founder. "Hilton Malta is proud to an- nounce its affiliation with RA1SE," said Melanie Deguara. "We are pleased to be associating the Hilton brand with an upcoming charita- ble organisation which shows such promise and is backed by a dedi- cated professional such as Mr. Az- zopardi," added Ms. Deguara. "Over the last years, the overall standard at RMGC has risen dra- matically as new young golfers take their positions. This year undoubt- edly had the most enthralling finish of any Scratch Competition in recent memory, ending with possibly one of the most dramatic play-off this golf club has ever seen," said RMGC's Captain John Fletcher. The Scratch Trophy, sponsored by HSBC Bank Malta plc for the last four years, is a two-day competition played without handicap amongst the best golfers at the Royal Malta Golf Club. Founded in 1891, the Scratch Challenge is a prestigious golf competition based on an in- dividual aggregate 36-hole medal played off scratch. Competition overview Day one finished with Danny Hol- land and J.J. Micallef on 70, followed by Andy Borg, Quint Van Beek and Ruud Critien on 71. Day two brought some exceptional play, notably a birdie on the 3rd, the most difficult par-four by Danny Holland, and yet another birdie by Andy Borg on the equally difficult 10th, also a par-four. On the final 18th tee, Danny Hol- land teed off with two shots in hand over J.J. Micallef. However, J.J. Micallef went down in three and Danny Hol- land in five, with 3 putted. Thus, both participants achieved equal scores of 70 on the first day and 68 on the sec- ond day. The competition continued over a further three holes: the 1st, the 17th, and 18th. The 1st hole was birdied by Danny Holland (3 shots) and bogied by J.J. Micallef (5 shots). The 17th hole was a par-three and both contestants went down for 4. Danny Holland was two shots ahead standing at the 18th hole. He teed off as a sure winner but went out of bounds. J.J. Micallef had a clean shot towards the green. Holland had to tee off again for 3 shots and chips; he holed the putt for a 5. Micallef chipped onto the green and holed out for 4, leaving Danny Holland the win- ner by the smallest of margins. "The success of this venture will depend on the quality of service offered and there is absolutely no leeway for bad experiences. We are confident that we will be in a position to offer the most com- fortable and safest experience to patients given that we have al- ways made quality the hallmark of our success."
