43 maltatoday, Sunday, 27 april 2014 Events As part of the World Oral Health Day, celebrated yearly on 20 March, Vodafone Malta Founda- tion supported Special Olympics Malta who teamed up with the Faculty of Dental Surgery, Univer- sity of Malta and the Dental Public Health Unit and offered free dental screening and oral health advice to fourty Special Olympics Athletes at the Playmobil Funpark. World Oral Health Day is an in- ternational event to celebrate the benefits of a healthy mouth and promote awareness of good oral health for all worldwide. The main aim of the activity was to bridge the gaps in the current health care system by creating more aware- ness and opportunities in this un- derserved client group. "We wanted to celebrate World Oral Health Day in a fun way and made sure that the athletes relaxed while cooperating and participat- ing in the event that met their oral health needs," said a representa- tive from Special Olympics Malta. "Participants and their carers were offered free oral hygiene and di- etary advice by dentists, dental hygienists and students were they also carried out dental examaina- tions." The finalists for the e-Journalism Award, sponsored by SmartCity Malta of this year's Malta Journal- ism Awards are Catherine Aqui- lina and Karl Wright, who are both journalists at newsbook.com.mt, and Alan Deidun, environmental journalist and columnist at Allied Newspapers. Commenting about the awards, SmartCity Malta CEO Anthony P. Tabone said, "We are honoured to be sponsoring the e-Journalism category for another year. On both a global and national level, our community continues to become more Internet-savvy, socially con- scious and driven to communi- cate, which is why e-Journalism is crucial in today's fast-paced world, with its power to reach people from all around the world in mere sec- onds." The Malta Journalism Awards are organised annually by the Institute of Maltese Journalists (IGM). The winners of this 24th edition of the Malta Journalism Awards winners will be announced at the awards ceremony which will be held on Saturday, 3 May, 2014, at The Pal- ace Hotel, Sliema. Bay Street Complex in St George's Bay, St Julian's, is welcoming choco- late lovers who want to make the most of the good weather and the Easter holidays, following the open- ing of the nine-day Nestlé Wonka Choco-Fest, which started on Satur- day, 19 April, 2014, and is being held every day until Sunday, 27 April, 2014. The Choco-Fest is open from 12 noon to 6 p.m. daily, where children can meet Charlie and the Choco- late Factory characters. In addition, a free complimentary children's voucher to the National Aquarium will be given out to children when entering the Wonka Chocolate Fac- tory. During Easter holidays, all shop- pers and dinners at Bay Street will be able to enter a Shop & Win Com- petition with five golden tickets to be won. The prizes include an elec- tric eco-scooter worth €2,800, Bay Street Hotel weekend breaks, Nestlé Confectionery goodie baskets and children's toys from Juniors Fun & Learn Centre. On Saturday, 26 April, and Sunday, 27 April, the Choco-Fest will wel- come students from the Institute of Tourism Studies, who will be giving information on the history of choc- olate. There will also be entertain- ment and displays featuring Master Chocolatier Andrew Farrugia, who holds the Guinness World Record for the longest chocolate sculpture. All proceeds from the Choco- Fest will be donated to the Beating Hearts Foundation. Bay Street is also offering custom- ers one hour free parking in both the indoor and outdoor car parks from 19-27 April. Philip Galea, Marketing Executive of Bay Street, said: "I am convinced that all the visitors to Bay Street will enjoy the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory theme for the chocolate fes- tival this year. Vodafone Malta Foundation celebrates healthy smiles Nestlé Wonka Choco-Fest opens at Bay Street Hilton management go camping On Tuesday 25 March, the Hilton Management team participated in a fun-filled 33-hour team building experience in Mellieha and around Malta to improve communication and teamwork amongst the managerial staff. The programme included an inter- esting Geo Caching treasure hunt organised by JUGS, which incorpo- rated canoeing, monkey bridges, rock climbing and travelling in old DAF trucks. The evening was spent around a campfire together with Gianni. The following morning the team partici- pated in an exercise where they were made to dress up in costume to create a music video for a given song by lip syncing the lyrics.
