The series features Maltese and Scottish flautists studying at Edinburgh Napier University performing in various flute ensembles. The series is funded by the Napier Student Initiative Grant and the Malta Arts Fund. The first concert in the series features Maltese flautists Laura Cioffi and Clara Galea, known as Duo Aulos, performing a selection of works written for 2 flutes and piano with the talented pianist Gisèle Grima, an Napier University alumnus herself. VISUAL ARTS CONTINUES BY APPOINTMENT Retrospective by Norbert Attard Retrospective exhibition by artist Norbert Attard at Gozo Contemporary, 11, Mongur Street, Gharb, Gozo. Art works spanning 40 years will be on display. These include Attard's early paintings, drawings and lino cuts from the formative years, limited edition prints (including the Walled Cities, Mihrab and Kimono series) and abstract paintings from the 1970s, 80s, 90s, and photographic prints and sculptures, from his most recent conceptual phase. MAY 17-24 Malta Design Week Now in its second iteration, Malta Design Week (MDW) has one simple premise - To celebrate, promote, and showcase the best Innovation and creativity of Maltese design. This year's edition will take place at Fort St Elmo, Valletta. MDW will provide an opportunity for local designers to flaunt their creative talent in a venue and event that suitably adapts to subject matter. MDW seeks to give visitors a response to the question – 'What is good design and why does it matter?' – and it does so by creating an experience of WHAT'S ON Bla Konfini/Borderless Dance performance at Pjazza Teatru Rjal, Valletta at 21:00, choreographed by Mavin Khoo, in collaboration with percussionist Renzo Spiteri and artist Pierre Portelli. Dancers and musicians will include Clare Ghigo, Cliff Zammit Stevens, Florinda Camilleri and Michael Pascault. Tickets at €5 can be collected from the ticketing office of St James Cavalier, Valletta.
