maltatoday, WEDNESDAY, 14 MAY 2014 18 Events Bay Street donates choco-fest proceeds of €2,500 to Beating Hearts foundation FIVE winners of golden tick- ets awarded during the Shop & Win Competition as part of last month 's Nestlé Wonka Choco- Fest at the Bay Street Complex in St George's Bay, St Julian's, have been presented with their prizes. Tiziana Francalanza won an elec- tric scooter worth €2,800; Lucien Malaquti won the Bay Street Hotel weekend break; Sina Mifsud and Audrey Polidano won the Nestlé Confectionery goodie baskets; and Luke Borg won gifts from Juniors Fun & Learn Centre at Bay Street. This year's Nestlé Wonka Choco- Fest, held over the Easter holidays between 19 and 27 April, was an outstanding success. "We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to all the chocolate lovers of all ages who visited Bay Street during this amazing event," Bay Street Marketing Executive Philip Galea said. "Special thanks go to our main sponsor, Nestlé, with their new range of Wonka chocolates, Mas- ter Chocolatier Andrew Farrugia, the students from the Institute of Tourism Studies and all the actors and actresses who played the parts of Charlie and the Umpa Lumpas during the nine-day choco-fest." As a sign of Bay Street's grati- tude to the management of Nestlé in Malta for their support of this event, it presented them with all the chocolate sculptures and choc- olate paintings made by Mr Farru- gia, who holds the Guinness World Record for the longest chocolate sculpture, during the two days he was at the choco-fest. The Nestlé Wonka Choco-Fest was also an opportunity for Bay Street to assist the Beating Hearts Malta Foundation, which received all the proceeds of the event. This amounted to €2,500, which was raised over these nine days to sup- port the foundation in its mission to help children with heart prob- lems. "We are highly grateful for this successful outcome," Mr Galea said. "It shows that what we are building here at Bay Street is in- creasingly being welcomed by our clients and many visitors. It won't stop here since we are very pleased to announce that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will come back for Easter 2015." The show stays open till 8:00pm, as the garden will be lit for the oc- casion. The following day Sunday 18 May, the show opens at 8:00am and closes at 9:00pm. The prize giving ceremony, presided by the President of the Republic, starts at 7:00pm. This horticultural show, the main one on the island, comprises both competitions and exhibitions of flower arrangements, pot plants, vegetables and fruit. The over 200 classes, on competition basis, of horticultural products, as well as numerous floral exhibitions, make this a showcase of the local farmers' and growers' work and proof of the high artistic level of our flower ar- rangers. During recent years, the society has been inviting a foreign profes- sional Flower Arranger to give master classes before and during the show. This year we are inviting Professor and Headmistress Riho Miyamoto of Koryu-Toyoki School in Japan, to give this year's show a touch of Ikebana, the Japanese Flo- ral Art. This event also offers an opportu- nity for a wide selection of crafts- men and artists to show their crea- tions, ranging from tapestry work to paintings, from beekeeping to olive oil, from the traditional Maltese Clocks to sculptures. A section is devoted to school children, where apart from exhibit- ing pot plants, posters, and window boxes, they also exhibit models of farms and miniature gardens. On both days, various demonstra- tions on local crafts will be held, as well as an entertainment pro- gramme of dancing, folklore music, and village band marches spread over both days. A catering service will also be available to encourage visitors to visit all stands and to explore the formal gardens of San Anton. An entrance fee of €2 per adult is paid at the gate. Children under 12 go free. HSBC Merchant Services changes name to Global Payments HSBC Merchant Services is chang- ing its name to Global Payments, ef- fective as from 1 June 2014.
