THIS WEEK 19 MUSIC & NIGHTLIFE MAY 28-JUNE 1 Flutes en Vacance I Concert at St James Cavalier, Valletta at 19:30. e series features Maltese and Scottish flautists studying at Edinburgh Napier University performing in various flute ensembles. e series is funded by the Napier Student Initiative Grant and the Malta Arts Fund. e first concert in the series features Maltese flautists Laura Cioffi and Clara Galea, known as Duo Aulos, performing a selection of works written for two flutes and piano with the talented pianist Gisèle Grima, an Napier University alumnus herself. All the three performers are Ian Tomlin Scholars. JUNE 7 A Night for Life Concert by soprano Lydia Caruana accompanied by pianists Yvette Maria Galea and Domenic Galea and with guest participation of Alex Manche' at Manoel eatre, Valletta at 20:00. VISUAL ARTS CONTINUES BY APPOINTMENT Retrospective by Norbert Attard Retrospective exhibition by artist Norbert Attard at Gozo Contemporary, 11, Mongur Street, Gharb, Gozo. Art works spanning 40 years will be on display. ese include Attard's early paintings, drawings and lino cuts from the formative years, limited edition prints (including the Walled Cities, Mihrab and Kimono series) and abstract paintings from the 1970s, 80s, 90s, and photographic prints and sculptures, from his most recent conceptual phase. MDW will provide an opportunity for local designers to flaunt their creative talent in a venue and event that suitably adapts to subject matter. MDW seeks to give visitors a response to the question – 'What is good design and why does it matter?' – and it does so by creating an experience of it.
